I don't know. Maybe in large, minimal spaces looks good. I am still happy I replaced everything brass my parents put in my apartment. It looks much better. IMO the only good thing about brass is its antimicrobial properties. Maybe is a good choice if you have kids or health issues.

Oh my God! These look great and I am so into using colors people normally don't. I have a red wall already but I wonder how a black wall would work in an apartment that is not getting enough light even during summertime

I used glossy red paint on a wall with many imperfections due to an older plumping problem. I just removed the old paint, primed and painted. Didn't make the wall smooth. I like the way all the scratches and imperfections are showing. Makes it more interesting.

Thank you so much you mentioned hangers. I replaced a couple of months all my hangers with thick black wire ones and the closet looks fantastic. My friends thought i was crazy. You just justified my action.

This was the most common planter in the Greek villages. Using oil or feta cheese cans. Most of the times painted white. Now it's returning as a trend. It is also vety good for the plants, cause as it rusts, it gives iron to the plants.

I use cotton pads, the ones you use to remove make up, instead of plain cotton to clean paint drops. They are lint free and when you want to clean a small drop very close to the painted surface they are ideal. The lints in plain cotton always stick to the painted surface, creating a mess. Cotton pads are great for this very delicate sort of things

I recently renovated my entrance. White walls, a black IKEA shelf and red IKEA shoe cabinets, red pipes from the central heating, red clothes hanger, red and white DIY clock with Japanese numbers and some red branches in a vase, i painted my self.

Sometime soon I will paint a wall red. I love this color and finally I am not ashamed to use it inside my apartment

Though I also hate wire hangers, I found the ones to make me change my mind. Thick and black wire hangers. And so cheap, that I bought 30 of them and I am going to buy a dozen more to replace all my plastic ones.
So "no ugly wire hangers"

Ahhh the good old "kurelu". Just like "tulpoeid" said, this is the traditional Greek rug, made of recycled textiles. A good way to use all those small parts of cloth that was useless. Many of us have them from our grandmothers but the market nowadays is full of them, made in China of course. They were very trendy few years ago, but now I believe they don't fit very well in a modern apartment. They look great in cottages though.

I can't remember who said it, but you have to check three things before you move in. The neighborhood, the neighborhood and the neighborhood.

I would NEVER destroy my old vinyl, no matter what. Rare or not. Items made by old vinyl records are destroying a part of our history, if you ask me. Recently I threw away all my old home audio and video tapes, but not the original ones. These are kept in a safe place. We don't realize it now, but these items are the antiques of tomorrow.

I live in Athens, Greece. My neighborhood is not the quietest but I could handle it, till the day a new neighbor, few meters away, brought a dog, which he almost all day leaves at the balcony. From the first day all you could hear was a large dog barking and crying to get inside the house. I was polite, I was rude, I was angry, i called the police two times in a row and they somehow treated the poor thing in a more human way. But all night the dog was back at the balcony. Barking precisely at 02:30, 04:30 and 07:00 when they woke up. No matter what, they never did anything. Now they have a new one. 3 months ago the street was a mess. A dog barking all afternoon, people shouting at them, police too many times. They put the dog in for a while or a few days and back again. Now it's winter and the dog is still out all afternoon but since the last police call not at night. But the barking is still annoying even if it's less due to less activity that would make it upset. But my nerves can't handle not even a "yap" at this point and can't sell my apartment due to the crisis here. And it's been 3 years now!!!
My point is that be nice once, be nice twice but noisy people are people who don't respect the others. Who think high of themselves. So after the polite period passes, just call the police as often as necessary or do whatever has to be done. Don't be patient. It will blow back to your face. And certainly don't change your way of life with earplugs or whatever because of a noisy neighbor. I used to love dogs, now I can't stand them because of one............. (this is a nice site and I can't swear)
