Paint that stairway! Now! It's the only thing you can see... It really should fade into the rest of the walls and trim. I would put a big bold painting on that large wall. I have to say as an industrial designer, this magazine has been missing the mark for a very long time. It's sad to see a an icon in our industry disappear, however, I can not say that I will miss it. The closure just widens a huge gaping hole in the market. There is no magazine that meets the needs of industrial designers with engaging practical content without an elitist tone. There are some good suggestions here, but I would have to disagree with several people on draping fabric on the walls. It will just look like you are trying to cover it up, and it will just draw people's eyes to the walls! Do add lots of candle light, and draw people's eyes to the center by decorating your tables with candles and bringing attention to the center by hanging lights.. maybe even some sort of lit natural garland or wreaths hung horizontally with candles on them.
