Get the Pomi chopped or crushed tomatoes in the red-and-white box. Nothin' in there but tomatoes! You'll have to season them according to your recipe ... but that's a good thing! Ways to Reduce Your Exposure to BPA | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

My first thought when I saw that peacock was "they can't possibly have a cat" ... and then I saw that they do! (It's got to be a female and at least middle-aged!) Lovely place ... but I'd be sleeping with one eye open with that deer head looming over the bed Martha and Ben's Southern Mix House Tour | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

Fabulous! I'd be afraid I'd bump the slide-out drawer with the hotplate while it had a pot on it, sending the draw zooming back in and the pot crashing to the floor! Most of the trees planted along the city streets are males ... the only way to have the ginko without the stinko! But a promenade of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is lined with female trees, and I once saw women with big bags collecting the fallen nuts. I just adopted a rescued kitty after not having a cat for 15 years, and he's the first cat I've ever had who regards anything left on the counter as fair game! (It doesn't help that the windowsill in my small galley kitchen, his favorite perch, is inches away from the countertop on one side and the stovetop on the other.) And it's not just chicken or fish he's after ... I once came in to find him dragging a log of goat cheese across the floor toward his bowl; another time, he had ripped open the foil wrapping on a gift of homemade mandelbrot and flipped a piece onto the floor, where he was munching away when I came back after five minutes. They're beautiful ... and it's great to give something old and worn out a new lease on life. But if the point is to salvage old worn-out carpets no one would otherwise want, why are they so expensive? They may be "handcrafted by Turkish artisans" originally, but the colors carefully worked by those artisans are so worn away over the years that the rugs have been discarded. (I also wonder ... with the original yarn so battered and worn down, how long will it be until they apart?) The Color Reform Rug Collection by ABC Carpet | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |

Smoking, overeating, drinking, drugs, and gambling are addictions (which are a form of "mental illness," in that they are associated with imbalances in the brain. But lots of people enjoy a glass of wine ... and even are even serious connoisseurs of wine ... without any inclination to being alcoholics. I have a window in my kitchen with a lovely view of the trees at the southern tip of Ft. Tryon Park. It's not over the sink, but it's at the end of the (very small) room, and it has one purpose: my cat's perch, from which he surveys both the outdoors and activities in the kitchen that might lead to his being fed. Ha! I just went and visited the Intrepid a month ago, and saw and loved these! And yes, I too was thinking how "palatial" they are, compared to seamen's quarters! I spent five days on a schooner off the coast of Maine three summers ago, and slept in a bunk that was like sliding into an MRI (the cabin was so tiny that I could touch the opposite walls with my ELBOWS)! I got myself through it by telling myself that if my dad could do it (when he was young), then I could do it! Apartment Therapy New York | Small Spaces Aboard the USS Intrepid |
