Seeing all these comments about the Petrie sofa makes me feel a little less insane, but this sofa has been driving me crazy since my cat made his first claw mark 30 minutes into owning it. I had no idea that the fabric would be so susceptible to snags due to its lose, basket-weave design.

After thinking that I can't afford to replace it and looking into slipcovers, I'm probably just going to replace it and not have to worry about it anymore. I'm going to get a leather sofa, and, no, it won't be the leather Petrie. And, no, I won't be buying my next sofa from Crate and Barrel. The lack of support from the company despite an investment of more than $2000 in this sofa and the footstool has definitely hurt my 'relationship' with the company.

Mmmm, don't forget the rum.

I also love my $2.79 hamper from Ikea.

The two go together nicely, with my hamper tucked into a corner to one side of a bedroom bookcase, and the laundry guy picks up and delivers in 24 hours.

Thus is life in NYC, where I'm not even allowed to own my own washing machine. (And no, there isn't a communal one in the basement either.)

Concrete can get really cold in winter. The concrete floors in my last apartment were freezing in winter. Consider putting down a thermal insulating layer. Brrr....

Yes, the lying down position. Which also happens to be just about the best ... position ... for sleepinzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........

Grrrr, NYC. I'm lucky to have even one closet in my entire apartment. And that's only because the landlord added it before I moved in.

Idea for a follow-up post: how to buy or build a linen closet. I have my eye on a tall, thin closet-like unit at Ikea. But it would be in my kitchen. :(

One commenter on the bed website pointed out that you need to leave ample floor space to open the drawers on *both* sides of the bed. So that would be about 2 feet at least on either side of the bed. Compare this to the width of a single dresser w/ open drawers, and you're probably not saving all that much space.

Didn't we see this kitchen already in another post recently? Or was it a kitchen that just happened to look almost exactly like this one?

I wouldn't underestimate the expenses involved. When you add up the new appliances, cabinets, backsplash ties, countertop, lights, plus labor, I bet it wasn't exactly cheap.

I have the Leifeit pitter and don't like the fact that
a) I can't fit bigger cherries into it very well and
b) I often end up with cherry juice splatters all over the kitchen and my clothes.
