In most cases I make my own body and cleaning products. I find it more empowering. I chronicle some of my recipes in post and videos on my Granola Tendecies blog on my website. Some links are below.

First I brush my teeth. Then I write three pages of "morning pages." I sit on my yoga mat and meditate. Usually ranges around 5 to 10 mins. (I'm hoping to extend that) Then I do yoga for only about 15 mins. (Hoping to extend that too).

Then I continue with my day. Feed the cat. Get ready for work. (I don't eat breakfast until I get to work)

I'd love to add in reading and some outdoor type thing like a walk in the park but its still dark when I get up and that would be dangerous.

Sounds like you've read books like "Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui" and you're describing a version of a Space Clearing. She also has a book called Clearing the Clutter with Feng Shui.

Just go, cold turkey. Right now even though I don't have a tv, I do have hulu and netflix. But years ago I went six months with no tv at all, no hulu...just cold turkey. And it was probably one of the most enligthening times of my life. I read more. I had deeper conversations. It was just a different experience. I'm thinking now of limiting my hulu and netflix intake even.

To help the transition take on a different hobby or class or bake a cake from scratch. Just do something difference.

At first you will miss the tv and then you'll get to a point where you just don't even care anymore.

I saw this last year in a post somewhere and could never find the link. Thank goodness you all just posted about it! Incredible.

I always have bulk of baking soda...I use it to clean everything with homemade concoctions.

There's also always a jug of vinegar and castile soap.
There's also always brown and raw sugar. I use it for baking but also for body products.
And I have an overflowing basket of essential oisl that I put in everything from cleaning products to hair products to laundry to anything.

This is simply amazing! Thanks for this information! Wish I had known about it. Although in my last move I used bins since my belongings were in storage for a month and I wanted to protect them. But for my last few moves I've used boxes and buying them is painful because I only throw them away after if I can't find anyone else to give them too.

I love everything but the color in the kitchen. But that's just my personal taste. Obviously, it is what the owner loves.

I defintely use the rule that if I buy an article of clothing, I have to give an article of clothing away. When its hard to really give something away..since I truly love everything in my closet, I give it to a family member like a younger sister or friend. That way I know its with someone that I know and somehow it makes me feel better.

As far as shopping, I keep a list of things I need to buy from shelves for the living room wall to paper towels. If its not on that list, I do not buy it. And once its one the list, if its not essential like toilet paper, I sort of wait a bit to see if I still feel the same way a week later or a month later.

Because I write, do collages and all sorts of other creative projects, I try to scan in as much stuff as possible to keep the paper in my apt to a minimal. It's challenging though.

Currently I have a couple bins that are set to go to goodwill but I can't find the time to drop them off. Neither do I have a car to do so. Sometimes I just want to trash it all to get it out of my site. But i don't. Because that would be horrible. But what can I do when I don't even have time to drop donations off?

Beautiful cleaning supplies are under rated. I searched for ever for a brown attractive garbage can to match the decor of my home. I ended up with one I loved from simple human.

I would add castille soap. It comes in handy with the baking soda and vinegar and can be used to make just about anything from homemade dish soap, shower gel, shampoo, floor cleaners and everything else.

I love those shelves and want one. I love the rustic, comfy feeling the wood gives off. Reminds me of the wooden storage bins they use in World Market.

Its intriguing but I feel as if the weight of some of my work might crush. I'm guessing they designed it to hold up to the pressure though.
