When I saw this post's title and picture, I first thought, "You know, a beer DOES help me get cooking!"

I still miss Baskin Robbins' chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream. I'm not sure if the gummy "truffles" would appeal quite as well to my adult pallate, but recently I had a flourless choclate cake with raspberry sauce, and that flavor combo took me right back to those days when my mom would take me for a special treat at BR.

Their spinach fettuccine is DELICIOUS. I could eat it plain (but it's great with pesto).

Thanks for this post — it inspired me to keep an eye out for vintage glassware when thrift store shopping, and maybe stop replacing my cheap Ikea crap with more cheap Ikea crap.

I tried making salt caramels last night (from the recipe on this site), and, despite my frequent testing (dropping a bit into cool water) and keeping an eye on the thermometer, I managed to overcook it into hard toffee. Not the worst outcome, but I was looking forward to chewy caramel! Oh well. I'll give it another try soon.

I had just decided not to do a dry-run when I saw this post, and now I'm having second thoughts. I'm trying a new stuffing recipe this year after having insisted to my family that homemade is better than Stove Top. Now I just have to make sure it's better than Stove Top.

My sister endorsed the recipe I'm going to try though, so hopefully it will be fine with no trial run.

When I was in Japan about ten years ago, I was served a bowl of ice cream at the end of dinner in a Chinese restaurant. As a vegetarian, I'd spent a lot of time on the trip asking my grandma to explain to me what I was eating and to explain to servers in Japanese that I didn't want any meat. But I figured ice cream was a safe bet, so I ate it, including the rufflly garnish that surrounded it. I'd eaten a lot of new-to-me mushrooms thus far on the trip, and figured it was some kind of fungus too. Turned out it was jellyfish. Oops.

At my last apartment (and every one before that) my fridge was covered head to toe with magnets (some homemade!), lists, pictures, postcards, and pretty much everything I found amusing that was light and flat enough to be tacked up.

Now that I live with my boyfriend, his strictly minimalist aesthetic doesn't allow for junk on the fridge, so it's mostly blank. Except for a magnet from our go-to Indian delivery restaurant (hidden on the side) and a small needlepoint map of our neighborhood with the streetcleaning schedule, which he tolerates.
