I completely dissagree about the toaster - I couldn't live w/o one - why use the extra energy and heat up the house in the sumer when you don't have to - I love my Oster convection oven, it cooks better and quicker than my reg oven. This is the one I have and would highly recommend http://bit.ly/aOGO1q Five Small Appliances You Can Live Without | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

My favorite use for a slow cooker is for making ribs - I cook them about half way then transfer to the grill and they come out much more moist and flavorful. Back to Basics: How to Use a Slow Cooker | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn#comments |

I completely agree with Ina - when I switched from crappy cookware and knives to quality stuff, my cooking improved...in part because of what I had to work with and part because the better cookware and cutlery changed my outlook on cooking - I enjoyed it more and felt more confident. I invested in a set of stainless steel All Clad cookware about 7 years ago (http://comparecookware.net/al-clad-cookware/) and have had 0 regrets Obama's Afternoon Snack and Things Every Kitchen Needs This Time Last Year | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I actually drink alcohol with breakfast! I know what you're thinking - I work from home and get up late so my first meal winds up being close to noon, but yes I do enjoy a cold frosty one with lunch especially since I don't drink coffee or soda. this reminded me of one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans - Commander's Palace - they have a lunch special during the week that includes 25 cent martinis (limit 4) I always make a point of eating there when visiting and I've worked my way up to 3 per meal, granted they are pretty small but still I use to not be able to make it past one, not sure if this is something to be proud of... I may be a meat eater bit I do like hummus a lot but I'm not a huge fan of the kinda bland stuff you usually get so I started making a more flavorful spicy hummus from scratch at home and think it's actually better than most of what i've tried - here's a link to a good recipe http://bit.ly/9XPdRK , I tried it and it turned out really good but I did learn not to add more garlic than recommended!! 10 Vegan Lunch Ideas | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I love bloody mary's but I prefer the ones they make in New Orleans especially with pickled veggies in it like okra and green beans - here's a recipe I found and tried and it actually turned out better than what I remember drinking on my last trip http://gastrotravels.com/thirsty-foodie-pirates-alley-cafe-new-orleans/ - I make my own pickled green beans and add them at the end. I too have been in love with Le Creuset since Julie & Julia but I can't decide which color to invest in ( I want matching pieces) I really like the carribean blueish color I saw here http://comparecookware.net/le-creuset-cookware/ but a lot in my kitchen is black so I'm tempted to pick up their Black Onyx pieces...but the colors are so pretty...
