Yes! I think they're very witty and beautiful. How many baby deer and owls can the design world stand?

I'm tempted to do a whole room in the Cabinet of Curiosities or an old book of Audebon prints.

I'd play "Christmas Is Going To The Dogs" by Eels. And then I'd admire my beautiful red sound system and gloat.

I am dying a slow death of envy - a great apartment in a great neighborhood with a garden! It's too much! I am so impressed by the built-in cabinets and would love advice on where to go to learn how to do something similar in my apartment.

I also love the red over the fireplace - what color is it?

I've been curious about the HL for a long time and would love to sneak up there at some point to check it out. Has anyone else done this?

Rappy, I used (white) appliance paint to cover my old-masking-tape colored fridge and it turned out beautifully. I'm sure it comes in different colors if you don't want white. Or, you could try wallpapering the fridge - which is something I saw in Domino at some point. It looked really fabulous.

Try saddle soap and a slightly damp sponge - it does a nice job cleaning and conditioning the leather and is very gentle.

I might be tempted to sand the beams and pickle/whitewash them. The grain will still show through and you'll have a brighter, more neutral look to work with when you're painting the rest of the room. We did this in a very rustic house with a wood interior similar to yours and it really transformed the place. It's a bear of a job, though.

Clean it with something gentle (like Murphy's Oil Soap) and then polish it with Butcher's Wax, which will really bring out the beauty of the grain.

I have died (from envy) and gone to heaven. The use of color is so lovely in this apartment - that yellow is especially gorgeous. And I love all the kilims...

I think the overall effect is stunning, though I agree with others about the black toilet (there is something about black toilets that slightly skeeves me out). I love the dark brown walls - I wonder if you had considered using heavy clear fishing wire (or whatever it's called) to hang your mirror and pictures instead of the regular wire?

That would be "your" not "you're" shade. Ack.

My dad just taught me a good tip if you're blackout roller shade won't snap back up. Pull it two-thirds of the down the window, remove the shade from the brackets, and roll it back up manually. Place it back in the brackets, pull it all the way down, and let it snap back up. Works like a charm.
