i live in north san diego county, near enough to hear the artillery practice at camp pendleton. there's nothing like dozing off at night to the sounds of war practice. i've lived in several cities in many different apartments, and the neighbors i've had in san diego are by far the loudest. i never go to sleep without my earplugs. when the noise gets past the earplugs, i call the police. my parents don't care much about design, but their dining room table, living room bookshelves, and bedroom set are all beautiful cherry wood and scandanavian which they purchased back in the 70s or 80s. i'm sure all those clean lines and that beautiful wood tone have influenced my taste. Lee Valley has these "Watchmaker's Cases" which I have been using for storing beads. But they're excellent for jewelry too. These come in different sizes and while I prefer the aluminum box, the pasteboard boxes look nice too. I'm thinking of adding different colors of felt to the bottom of the containers to add some interest and cushion my jewelry.
