So from reading these posts I am gathering that I maybe could skip the slats kit and just put my mattress on top of the box spring (which would be on the floor)?? As DanD said above, I don't have a place to store the box-spring and it doesn't creak or anything. It sounds like the creaking comes from improper slat installation and I'm not all that handy.
