You can make skirts and little girl dresses with a pillowcase or two. Just open the tops and fold over and sew, but leave an opening to make a place to pull elastic through for the skirts. If one pillowcase isn't enough, open the side seam and use two for one skirt. On the little girls dresses, do the same for the elastic and add ribbons for shoulder ties!

Salsa, they do have a gallon mason jar, but it is not the screw top kind, it has a flip lid with a O ring seal.

Suzannehamlin- would it be possible to call several local high schools and see if they have a cooking class and will take a lot of the boxes per school. I have donated books that way and they were very glad to get them! The school could keep some of then and then give the rest to the students to take home and keep!

My favorite two things in this home are the roll up wall, and the wonderful patio set on the wall that became art!! I have always wanted to do both these!! Space increased by light is one of my favorite things!!

Has anyone made kitchen cabinets using this idea? With a plank board on top for the counter tops? I would love to see a photo! Pre-made Kitchen cabinets seem to have so much wasted space in them, and you have to almost stand on your head to get to things!!

We came home from visiting family and our umbrella had fallen down and jammed between a bookshelf and the door!
We couldn't even get in!! Now, to find a discarded mailbox.
I also saw on TV where they put 6 mailboxes together and put a wood top on it. Family member put their things in it as they came in the door. Hats, gloves and shoes, etc.

I clean and reuse small marinated artichoke jars in my junk drawer in the kitchen. I have about 12 turned upside down so I can see what is in each.
I also clean and reuse my Parmesan cheese jars to store
in the small drawer in my fridge. Just the right size!

Check out the Mason Jar web page. They do have a 2 gallon
jar but it not a screw type ring and lid. I think it is a O ring type.
I am doing the fall kitchen therapy cure to get your kitchen in order and I am using all mason jars for anything I have to store in the kitchen. They come smaller than the half pints with the quilted glass, the only thing is they don't stack!!! The bottom of the glass is wider that the tops.

That is what I am missing!! I have the red wall in my kitchen
but it was not quite right! The light teal windows!!!! Perfect!
Thank you! Now I don't have to repaint my whole kitchen!! Just add the light teal color to my window and above the stove!! I love the colors and especially the carved chicken coup storage!! Taking something and re purposing it is one of my favorite things to do!! Sounds like it was a lot of really hard work! You did a great job!

I agree with rexrayfan!! Eggplant and raspberry!! How about paint three walls with one color and do the last wall in the other color! You could do it throughout and have each room have a accent wall color with all the other walls the same!

Please, please tell us what paint color you used for the dining room chairs!! Or are they original? I love them! And have dining room chairs waiting!!
Also, I love your top kitchen cabinets!! I was looking for something like this. But the only ones I could find were large on the bottom and small on the top in a 1800's house!!
Are they original?? If not could you please tell me where they are from. Thanks, you home is bright, light and full of color!! Beautiful!

702. About. I use them. A lot. (Still have the first one my mother-in-law gave me when I was first married.) This is going to sound ridiculous, but my cookbook count was not as bad a I thought it would be!! Really!!! At first, I forgot I was suppose to count them, and I posted something else, then I started counting them and then I forgot to finish counting them and posted some more things and then I forgot to finish counting the cookbooks because I was still getting finished with my "pantry" (two 6 foot bookshelves) and kitchen cabinets!! Does this ever happen to anyone else??? When I realized what was happening, I decided to start from top to bottom, left to right in my kitchen!! Maybe I should put a strobe light where I left off working each time!!!lol Cookbooks counted, "pantry" done and cabinets getting in great shape!! (Don't forget under the top cabinet cleaning like I did. Have to finish those!) You have no idea how much this has helped me!! I am so happy to know others are doing this at the same time!!

98percent of the cookbooks were either gifts or I bought for .99 or $1.99 or $2.99 or the most I will pay for one for myself is $3.99 at thrift stores. We have one store that you can buy a whole bag of books for $5. Once I paid $18 for a new one as a gift for someone getting married. I went to one of my favorite thrift stores a few days later and 7 or 8 more in the same series were $1.99 each!! Never more!! Never more!!
