I've switched to dry wax paper. It is alot like sandwich wrap.

I use it in the microwave to cover dishes, wrap baked potatoes in it when cooking in the microwave. Wrap various items in it to keep in the fridge. It is very cheap, takes the place of saran wrap (although it does still go to the landfill - in that respect Bee's wrap has the edge.

It cannot go into the oven like parchment paper however, but then neither can saran wrap.

Love love lovE This house! I'm a big fan of using light in my home for ambience and I've added some of the items in your home to my wish list.

Now this is my kind of house tour! Also great job on the comprehensive list!

A question that has always been on my mind - if marble is such a nightmare to maintain, then why is it used for transoms (divider section on the floors of doorways?

Somehow those seem to hold up. Wonder why?

Wait, this place is adorable, tasteful, isn't overcrowded with a ton o kitsch, and only has 247 votes?

Perhaps you meant to click on this good looking home as opposed to the other unimaginative spaces that have 500 votes?

Love your creativity and inventiveness! Rarely do I get ideas from house tours, but yours had so many fun ideas!

Glad to see some creativity in the DC area ! (I'm in Arlington, so I can say that :)

Ditto kelleyk, I refused to join as I will not let them access my twitter or facebook contacts.

I hope my friends are not letting them access my info through their account either. I think it is terrible that the only way to join is to whore out your friend's contact info.

I can't stand these lists that say if you haven't used it in 6 months get rid of it. I have things I haven't used for 10 years and then I'll need it for something and it keeps me from going out and buying all new items.

I hadn't made cupcakes in 10 years and was so glad that I had everything to make them w/o going out and buying all new items again. I do the same with clothing that I might not have worn for 7 years, but will then need a scarf, halloween costume, or something to wear to a party or wedding / event. I'm so glad that I kept it in my closet instead of trashing things and going out and buying all new every year.

I think it is time to re-evaluate these lists that keep telling you to get rid of things instead of hanging on to your existing (usually higher quality) items so that you can re-use them instead of wasting money and contributing to the consumerist side of the economy.

I say if you have the room, and you think you might use it again, don't listen to these crazy "if you haven't used it in a year . . ." philosophies. In the long run, it is a wasteful ideal.

mmm, someone sounds jealous or bitter. I bet you own a pc.

I understand that design doesn't play a huge part in your life TKPKgirl, but to those of us that cherish the gorgeous innovation of the mac product line, it is a huge loss to this society.

The mac, ipod, ipad, and iphone have changed my life. I'm very thankful that someone so passionate about pursuing usability and amazingly great design was on this earth to drive the creation of these products.

Many other companies would have / and do sacrifice the quality of these products to satisfy their bottom line instead of demanding perfection. He and the company stand out in this world of mediocrity.

Now I have said mine - peace.

oh for gosh sakes, how precious are these posts, meaning that you're blaming AT or Maxwell for being over the top about money and jeans, yet the reverse snobbery here is laughable.

I agree the video needed to be post-informative, but Why can't you just take it as new information to add to your trivia file - Oh, how interesting, I never knew about raw denim.

Well I'm tired of looking at house tours that have no inspiration and look like dorm rooms, so there. Take that in your reverse snobbery noses and stuff them :)

Just because there are items on here you might not afford, doesn't mean you can't get an idea from them. I am not rich, but I certainly don't want to look at poor people's homes (like me) to get ideas for my home. I want to look at expensive, designed, homes to do my own version at a price I can afford.

Get over yourselves!

Thank you AT for posting gorgeous homes. I don't get ideas from homes that look like dorm rooms, I get inspiration from homes like this.

The last thing I want to see is a home that I can go next door in my apt bldg and see anytime.

Though not exactly my style, I have plenty of ideas to gleen from this gorgeous home!

I'm with you on the finalists 519. I can't believe these are the finals out of the spaces I saw. The same thing happened last year too.

I guess I'll forego participating in the future if this is not tallied properly.

Some of us have feather / faux feather beds on top of our matresses which are washable. That way you can even use an old fashioned waterproof mattress cover ;) and you have a good 2-3 inches between you and the mattress. And besides that, it is dreamy to sleep on (no it isn't hot).
