Please, don't buy your wine drinking friends yet another corkscrew. If they drink wine, they already have at least one working unit already. I have tons of them now stashed in a box, including an electric one, from friends and family over the years. My waiter's corkscrew just works best, doesn't take up excess space and I don't need an instruction manual to use it. Just buy a nice bottle (nice doesn't have to be expensive) and write on the label "Call me when ready to open" or other note to set a date to enjoy your friends company. 10 Great Gifts for Wine Lovers Holiday Gift Guide from The Kitchn |

I don't see these items replacing the teacher any more than when my school moved from film strips to televisions. It's a great tool to have for students and enhances the ways they can explore and connect with others. I feel there still needs to be a physical presence motivated and engaged to keep the children on target with the curriculum. Is Your Home Tablet Your Child's Next School Teacher? |

I bought a Kitchen Aid double oven about 4 years ago. After a year I ran the self clean on one of the ovens and it fried all of the electronics including the lights in the oven. It was $350 to get the repair man out from Kitchen Aid and then another $500 for him to rebuild the circuit board. I haven't tried it since and don't plan to. I also don't plan to purchase another Kitchen Aid appliance. Why You Should (Almost) Never Use Your Oven's Self-Cleaning Function |

I have a wine rack that's built into my kitchen cabinets and I store my vitamins there. It's right by the sink so it helps me remember them and they're out of the way enough and surrounded by wine bottles that guests don't notice them. I keep my personal medications in my nightstand by my bed. You could put them in a decorative container or box to keep on the counter. Then, when you know you're having guests over, just put it in a cabinet. If someone is rude enough to open a cabinet in your home and then start going through random boxes I'd reconsider if I wanted that person visiting. About 5 years ago I upgraded from a vintage Singer (which only did straight and zig zag stitches) to a mid level Baby Lock. As soon as I got my Baby Lock, I found myself doing more and more complex projects which I never could have done on my old machine. My best advice is to visit a sewing store in your area to see machines and try them out. Do not be tempted by the cheap machines at Walmart because they will not last and they aren't made to handle anything beyond light weight cotton fabrics. The larger JoAnn's stores and independent sewing shops in my area will let you use the display models for your own work. I think there's a small hourly fee, but by doing this you can really test out the machine before investing in them. Recommend Vintage Sewing Machine? Good Questions |

@nikkirmz, I bought similar looking units from Target a while back, if you have one of them near you. If I remember correctly, they only came in white. Turn A Spice Rack Into Book Storage and Decorate It |

In order of frequency of use: espresso machine, KitchenAid stand mixer, Cuisinart food processor, crock pot, toaster. I'm getting rid of my blender because I haven't had a need for it since getting the food processor and I'd be happy to get rid of the toaster but my husband uses it. The stand mixer and food processor get almost daily use. A Tale Of 13 Appliances: What Stays and What Goes? |

I agree, austinpeahen, they're pretty hideous. The best re-use for a wine bottle is refilling it with more wine. It's not that hard to make. Green Gifts For a Green Christmas |

I had that exact tile board in my guest bathroom. I went with a cream waffle style shower curtain, painted the walls a creamy biege and used very simple yellow/orange accessories. As soon as I was able to rip it out, I did. The only part that I kept was in the space above the shower, which I painted the same color as the shower and it blends in well. It's also very easy to convert blinds to roman shades too. You can use them as your foundations and then fabric-tac cloth on top. Cheap shades can be bought for a lot less than the kits at craft stores. Make Your Own Roman Shades Martha Stewart |

If it's a grilling party I'd go with the theme and grill fruit. Use halves of peaches/plums or pineapple rings. After a few minutes, the sugars in the fruit carmelize and it's delicious.
