I needed a modern kitchen that fit in with our unique house, something that looked like it was original but refreshed. The software KD was not compatible with a mac when we designed it and our kitchen is a trapezium so we carefully drew the plan out on graph paper and took it to the rep at the kitchen department at Ikea who was a dream to work with.
Tip: take a day off work and go mid-week, weekends are reserved for the determined and demented.

We renovated the laundry room with Ikea cabinets first and we set up a temporary kitchen with microwave, coffee maker and toaster in there while we went through the kitchen renovation.

Two and a bit years later the kitchen looks as good as it did when it was finished and I'm sneakily envious of your process-I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I can't believe Simmer Till Done didn't make the list.
I think next year you should review the rules and make them typo-proof and more easily understood. This year they were confusing and thus unfair. For example this makes no sense at all:
" After a week of nominations, we'll collect up all your comments on the five individual posts and sort them down to the top six contenders. The, on Monday, January 29th we'll post a voting survey of these top six and repost it all week so that you have plenty of time to see it and vote. With one week of nominating and one week of voting, we should have a good turnout."

Renovation Therapy. Fruitwood and fabric, cats and chandeliers, home-made and Salvation Army salvaged.

I've used shower curtains and long tablecloths, both work great, it's just fabric after all
