What a lovely, large kitchen! Sadly, we're still living with a bad '80's reno...

@angelaflores I have this hamper too and Pottery Barn Kids liners fit perfectly. I got my liners on sale for about $5 each.

Love Love Love! I especially love that her Emmy is probably the first thing she see's when she awakens.

For someone that lives with boys- hubby & son, I crave a room where I could go girlie! Maybe when my son goes to college... 10 years.

Bought an old rectangular coffee table on Craigslist- painted it and put it in my son's bedroom so he could build/display his Lego creations.

Worked out great & keeps the Legos off the floor (and from being imbedded in my feet!) It's much easier to clean his room too.

The first time I saw an ad for these, I thought the same as you did. What a complete waste.

I really like the bed, and the chalkboard wall in the kitchen. I realize the space is small, but it just seems cluttered to me. That's a lot of stuff to dust (my least favourite chore)!

Coincidentally, the other night I called my neighbor at 11pm to tell her that her garage was left open (we get bikes & tools stolen from time to time on our street). She saw me the next day & thanked me profusely.

We look out for each other around here, without being intrusive. Some of us are friends, some aren't, but we tend to put the greater good of the neighborhood first.

Once you own a home and stress about property values, good neighbors become the silver lining of the pocket you hold your equity in.

Gorgeous- exactly the right amount of vintage/kitsch. Love everything, right down to the rudbeckia in jars.

Lemon balm. Seriously. I have bunches of it planted around my yard and when I garden, I rub it on my skin. Just pull a few leaves from the plant and rub them on the exposed areas. No reactions, no bites. Lemon balm smells like citronella, and I have heard that the citonella plant works as well.

Ditto on living in a small city. Rochester has everything except good schools, but there are several good private & parochial schools. I would move back to the city ... except... We live in an old suburb with great schools, quaint houses, and friendly neighbors. There are parks and playgrounds to make up for small yards, and we live within walking distance to the zoo and one of Olmstead's arboretal gems.

My son does get a diverse experience however, especially in summertime. He attends camps at the Rochester Museum & Science Center, and the George Eastman House (photography). Both are in an urban setting, and the camper population is representative of the community.

I think that, if you desire, you can provide the best of both worlds to your children. My son also benefits from frequent visits to my parents rural home, which is a 150 year old farmhouse just outside the resort town of Canandaigua, situated in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY state.

Other than squirrels stealing bulbs, and deer eating tulips, I haven't had any plants stolen. I am an avid gardener, and I appreciate spending time in various public and private gardens. It really enrages me when I hear that a fellow gardener's hard work is defiled.

I am a BIG fan of the Cornell Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, and visit Ithaca several times a year just to go look at plants and trees. Over the past year or two, they have had a spate of very rare plants go missing.

Stealing plants is reprehensible in any venue, and should be punishable like any other crime!
