A friend of mine has one of those. You wash your hands and the grey water runoff is used in the next flush.

Wind Chill of 0 degrees Fahrenheit this morning in Chicago. I'm currently very envious of anyone who can put away their woolier/down things! Dusting I can do though.

Great article. I feel like I'm constantly searching for the best long lasting product and thanks to the big box stores (Walmart being the giant among giants) it is increasingly harder even now when I have more buying power.

@B. Leokt A good point that needs to be made. I cross-my-heart promised myself I'll never buy non-stick again. However I'll use what I have already before I saw the errors of my ways and extend it's life as much as possible. I'll slowly replace with cast iron as they die. Hopefully thrifted.

Is it just me, or do other people now want a bucket (a cut galvanized bucket no less) just full of porcelain knobs just in case. Love the shelf too!

"with proper care" always intimidates me because I am hard on my possessions, but I would love good quality linens as long as I could!

I love this give away. However it reminds me of a quest I haven't quite given up on. A friend of mine has a mesh toiletry case that is TSA adherent. He received it on a trancontinental United flight. I've been looking high and low for something similar. I hate the plastic baggie.
Anybody know where I can find it?

Beautiful home. Is that an original Leon Golub? Be still my beating heart! The artwork really takes this one over the edge for me.

Super cute card!

@suzy8track I think it's too early to receive a card. But if you're going to make your own card; now is the time to get going.

Christmas expectations stress me out so I make my own New Years card. Usually I make the time during the slow lull around actual Christmas day. As long as people receive a card in January, I think it counts.

It looks great and I hate to be a buzzkill but a lot of beans, pastas, and especially whole wheat products shouldn't be exposed to light.

I definately think you should concentrate on accessories now.

As I personally moved many many many times in my 20s, furniture was too big for one apartment, or too small for another.
If you concentrate on accessory anchors now, and slowly build on replacing Gram's couch and Uncle Larry's kitchen table as you get more settled. I've been through a few hand-me-down couches but each time I hang that painting I love or the clock I scored, the apartment feels like home.

You can post your cabinetry on Craigslist under materials. In New York that had a place to donate used building materials and they'd resale I'm not sure if Chicago does that, but they should.

I think a butter yellow color be better than any shade of orange and I typically love orange with just about anything.

I have a pit bull mixed with something. When we're home he wants to be next to me. Even if I had a big place, by my feet is where he would be.

Plus because he's a 60 pounder, he doesn't have to whiz all that often. Little dog, little bladder.

I think any dog is a good apartment dog as long as they get their exercise. I think it more depends on the person's energy level than on their space.
