The bathroom is better than before, however; it lacks style.
aka it looks like a basic home depot look.

That cabinet on the side should be completely removed and finished and place something in it ( Like that orchid plant )

Cabinets painted white is a good idea

( So you can have access to the other side of the bed when making the bed, it sucks to have a bed against a wall )

Oh I forgot:

Get rid of whatever is at the end of the bed

Replace the rug by the bed with something oval and neutral
or really large cream coloured rug in the room

Instead of trying to bring it to 2010, bring it to something classic and gorgeous.

The room looks incredibly old and outdated.

BED:
I like the paisley comforter is it really nice, but place a fresh white blanket folded on the end of the bed.
Fresh white sheets!!
The pillows under the first set of pillows look really dingy and old . Have all sheets white!!
Buy a white bedskirt.

Go to homesense and winners - there are always tons of bed sheets and throws on CLEARENCE!!

PAINT:
A lovely creamy white:
Head board
Baseboards, Window frames and walls
to freshen everything

The room is very small, this will brighten it up!! Make it look larger

ART:
Remove all of the art
All of it is very outdated and none of the prints are nice.
They are too small
Find one really large piece of art that you love above the bed
Atleast the length of the bed width wise!!

LAMP:
Lamp is gorgeous, the brass is great but replace with a large white linen shade!!!

DRESSER:
Paint a nice creamy white
Replace pulls with CRYSTAL pulls

Remove all the small frames all over the dresser , this is a guest bedroom , it does not feel like one with all the small personal frames on there.

Buy a large silver vintage tray so guests can place their own personal things ( wallet, toiletry bag etc )

Replace the lamp with something new and modern, that lamp needs to be tossed.

All that you should have on the dresser:
LAMP
TRAY

OVER TOP OF THE DRESSER:
A Large wide mirror over top
Either a beveled mirror or a nice neutral gold framed mirror.

BLINDS:

REMOVE THOSE RED BLINDS!

They have really nice wood blinds at wal-mart that are cheap ( bamboo style)

If you can afford it :
Roman blinds or
Thick white wood blinds

CHAIR:
Cover with a light coloured plain cover instead of the floral
(white)

Place any kind of pillow you would like to accessorize!

since the couch is heavy and square.
if its in the budget i recommend purchasing a rectangular coffee table with thin metal legs.
( chrome, bronze ) with a glass ( white glass, NOT green ) or stone top ( neutral colour... such as white or cream )

Some other suggestions for your room:

-paint your wood table white and use it as a side table next to the couch instead of a coffee table ( its too small )

- add a beautiful glass / plexiglass table lamp on this small side table for light, and get rid of that old black deco floor lamp.

- remove the brass fireplace cover and find birch logs to place in the fireplace for decoration.

- clear off all the clutter on top of the fireplace mantle, as it looks junky and unorganized.
( add a mirror , or print, or some candles ) to keep it looking clean and modern.

Its a good idea to get FEATHERED filled pillows as they are soft and usually removable cover to be able to wash, instead of a firm polyester filled pillow.
A printed white pillow with colours suggested above ( such as orange, or even navy ) will complement the couch.
Or you could go with a "fluffy" ( looks like straight or curly fur ) textured pillow as well, those look great. ( either synthetic or real )

Also...

Use a large white/cream/or navy textured blanket either thrown in the corner of the couch; Or large enough to be a sort of "cover" for the couch ( where the arms are exposed )

this will also break up with couch and give it more interest.
