Agree with others about sticking it out. Get a handle on your rights and what you need to do to get satisfaction. If you have "quiet enjoyment" in your lease - you may have cause for discounted rent over the next three months.

Also, make sure you have a record of the condition of your apartment - videos or photos - before you leave. A landlord who unreasonably threatens to evict you may also play games with your security deposit.

Good Questions

Number 6 is a really bad tip but a good way to get banned by an auction house.

There's often a reason why auctioneers groups items as they do. Sometimes it's because there are multiple consigners (the people who own the items).

By switching items between different boxes or box lots - you are essentially stealing & engaging in a kind of fraud. It's similar to switching price tags.

If you go to a lot of auctions in a region - you'll see a lot of the same people. Do something like this & it'll get known.

A much better idea is that if you are bidding on a box lot - take a good look at the other bidders. After you win - follow up with these people - see if what they wanted differs from your item. I've done this (and had it done to me) a few times. Sometimes you can get back the full amount of your bid by selling what you don't want to another bidder.

Charming & beautiful. Where did you get the bedroom lamps? Love the shades in particular.

Don't think you can see in the pics but Tenacity was way off when it came to the scale of furniture. The dining chairs & living room furniture was much too big. It wouldn't be possible for anyone to sit at the table without blocking all access to the living room & other seating.

BED - I bought a similar bed several years ago at Gothic Cabinet Craft. Just checked & they still sell it - http://www.gothiccabinetcraft.com/beds-queen-size-beds-c-8_82.html

Really great bed & storage and reasonably priced.

What fun - love those chairs.

Rapunzel - the additional pieces were painted red/poppy color.

One way to hand a quilt is to sew a sleeve on the top of the backing and run a dowel through it. Another solution is to use a quilt hanger that clamps over the top of the quilt and is mounted on the wall. There are also quilt racks - both standing and mounted on walls - that are used to display folded quilts.

It's refreshing to see something with a completely different design aesthetic that exudes so much personality. I love this house tour - great rooms & great style. Nice to see something that looks so natural and effortless - I much prefer this to the sterility of the cloned hotel lobby look.

If you're moving in together for the first time - why not make things as simple as possible? Move into boyfriend's larger place with your menagerie. Agree if you don't like it after a specific period (or when lease ends), you'll find a shared space in the area YOU want.

Relationships require compromise.

Some of the rooms - while attractive - just don't seem very functional.

The folding chairs in 3 would be fine if used for additional seating for a party or as a child's desk chair. But for adult guests - they're not appropriate. Dining room chairs should be sturdy and comfortable - something your guests can sit in for an extended period of time. The chairs shouldn't wobble when someone leans forward or backward.

An affordable choice if you opt to have the sofa custom made is http://www.carolinachair.com/. I considered them when I was looking for a sofa - ended up finding what I wanted in a store but would consider them for future needs.

There are some beautiful and interesting objects in the house. Really enjoyed the collection of coffee(?) grinders and the artwork.

The living room seemed to need something a bit larger in scale. Maybe changing to an (even) oversized lamp, a big piece on mantel, or replacing the two wall hangings with a quilt hanging.
I also think a round rug would look great in the dining area.

But overall - very nice tour.

You could always paint the interior & bottom of the tins with a metal paint like rustoleum or the like. That would help deter the rust.

It's a clever use of space (I covet all that shelving). It could look stunning with some color & texture. Now, it's very sterile & bland. I honestly thought it was a lab at first.

I did a similar low budget makeover with my kitchen - painting cabinets and replacing countertops. I think you did a nice job and made some smart choices.

However - like others - I miss seeing a bit of color & warmth. I think painting the walls a few shades darker than the adjoining room would be an improvement. And choosing a warmer color would be even better. The spices add a bit of color - would be nice to see that elsewhere.
