Did you find the siphoning process to be challenging? We made this beer and had a lot of trouble getting the siphoning to work for more than a little bit at a time. One air bubble seemed to stop the whole process, and it was really frusrtating.

What about a stovetop Moka? I got one a few weeks ago and it makes amazing espresso. It's finally gotten me to stop the pocket-emptying Starbucks habit.

While I understand why anyone who has been lucky enough to find the perfect no-fee apartment on craigslist would recommend doing so, I really don't think it's as common as you might be led to believe. I'm in my second NYC apartment and always tried the no-fee way first, only to find really, really crappy apartments and sketchy brokers who have no real interest in you since they're not getting your money. Yes, fee brokers make you feel like you're throwing money down the drain, but I think on the whole the quality of apartments they show is better and the experience is a little less stressful (if you can afford it).

I truly do not understand how anyone can have a "problem" with people having personal photos in their house, anywhere. They "don't belong" in the formal dining room? "I don't need to see a timeline of someone's life"? Where does this bitter attitude come from? I mean, if every inch of free space is covered with photos from floor to ceiling I can see a clutter factor (with any framed image), but so what if there's just a lot of them? People surrounding themselves with images of the people and places they love is probably the least problematic thing I could imagine.

i made one of these recently, hot-gluing all the corks i'd saved to some cardboard. pushpin some photos in and it's a beautiful little corkboard. they have a beautiful one at jimmy seas in oak bluffs, martha's vineyard that inspired me.

We use colored latte bowls from Anthropologie, 2 on each radiator, full of water. They're super cheap - usually $5 to $8!

Benjamin Moore's pear green (just painted over our rental white, security deposit be damned). It's ultra-bright and sunny, and we have red appliances/accents that are perfect with it.
