Probably has a play kitchen because it's a playHOUSE. A kitchen is an integral part of a house, after all. I think most boys would love to play in there too, unless they've been brought up to think they should only do "boy" things. Point is, make it fun. I have been planning a rainbow to extend in a 1/4 arc from the side of my kiddos' closet, over the mantel, and to the floor. Pretty huge, which is the reason I've been putting it off. Thanks for the great ideas. I think I'm going to go a bit muted, as well. I do like the idea of letting the kids help, but this may be too big for that. @brakeforbread - PERFECT! @ oaxacaborn - my sentiments exactly...or stretch out on the bed and read a book, that'd be nice too. Even through photos the room just conveys serenity. This is my favorite, by far, and there are some really nice rooms as competition. The colors complement the dark woodwork perfectly; everything looks very warm and soothing. Yep, you know if you start off the piece with any measure of achievement, that's all we crazy parents will focus on. Really, you have every right to throw that in there, but if you wanted us to pay attention to the point of the post, you could have just skipped the number of pieces. Very nice. Am I the only one entertained by the profusion of grey rooms on AT? Not that I don't love 'em...and I am/was a participant in the trend.
