Kelly, I hope you're not offended by me saying that. I really love your space. It's stunning. Good luck with the hunt. :-)

Such a pretty space. I can't believe many of your pieces were found on the side of the road.
I'd love to see a different cocktail table in there (maybe it's just the photos but the scale of the existing table reminds me of a night stand). I also love the pattern on the rug, glass or Lucite would be great so you could see more of it!
Well done, Kelly.

@ SanDiegoAT - It's actually a duvet and shams. They're just from Pottery Barn. I believe it was the "tile print" collection.

@jillmcarlisle - I made the pillows. I have an Etsy shop if you're interested: www.plumcushion.etsy.com

Thanks to everyone for your nice comments!

Snow & Graham candles are my favorite. I practically buy their Christmas fragrances in bulk. AND the vessels are darling.

My goodness... I just want to know who's paper is on the wall dividing hall and shower stall. If someone could provide brand/pattern info that would be swell!

Honestly, get a few professional quotes. By the time you buy all the materials (webbing, springs, muslin, foam, dacron batting, etc.) you'll be in a small fortune.

I've done a few re-upholstery projects and I will say that they are ALWAYS more difficult than you anticipate. Both of my projects were with the guidance of a professional upholsterer (through a class). The first chair I upholstered went fairly smoothly. The second project was more challenging. To avoid an even longer story, I'll just tell you that I ended up paying the upholsterer to finish the job I'd started.

Fabric choice is the fun part! What style is your home? What colors are you working with? What's your budget?

If you want to see my latest project I'll be posting about it tomorrow.

Good luck!

You should check out www.gussychairs.com. They "rescue" similar pieces and transform them beautifully. Their portfolio would be a great place for inspiration.

I would research custom lampshade makers. There's a great shop in Seattle (Laurel Ann Studios) where I've had a few lamps restored and updated. A coat of paint and a fantastic shade would do wonders for your lucky find.

I love these. As a self proclaimed fabric hoarder, I can't believe none of his textiles have made it into my collection. This could be dangerous.

I situate my pillows vertically when I make the bed. I love the more relaxed look of horizontal pillows, but somehow every time I try them on my own bed I hate it. I'm not sure why.

I love Kelly's shop (and her blog!). I own a few of her items and couldn't be happier with them. It's a delight to see her shop on AT.

I LOVE Jonathan Adler. Thanks so much for this post. I'm also addicted to eBay and can't believe I've never thought to look for misspellings (did you intentionally spell it incorrectly - too funny). Brilliant idea from a brilliant man!

Ikea!!! I looked for a long time for the "right" rug. This was a lucky find and I'm pretty sure it was $150. I love a good deal!

Thank you.
I have to say I REALLY didn't want a tv in the living room, but since we haven't finished our basement yet (the media room will be in the basement) placing it over the fireplace has made for great viewing.
I think the distance to the tv from the sofa is key. Our sofa is about 10' from the wall where the tv hangs and the tv is hung 5' up. The other thing to keep in mind is the wiring. We've run ours through the attic and all of our components are in a closet in the hall. The remote controls work on radio frequency. It's fantastic!
Hope that helps.

I also recommend ebay but I have to say I've ordered some of the Uzbek ikats and it took a month to receive them and they arrived smelling like an ashtray. The Uzbek fabrics are beautiful but they are very narrow widths and the hassle just wasn't worth the savings.

If you're looking for something for a headboard I would recommend an upholstery fabric. The 54" width will be helpful and they typically don't require interfacing.

Here's a GORGEOUS Schumacher velvet ikat for a great buy it now price!
