hey, back from the grave, the sonics, the music machine, angels from hell soundtrack - some seriously dope stuff there.

I have my records in crates from a swedish called Granit (www.granit.se). On the floor. Yes. They collect some dust, yes. But I seem to play them more when they're more accessible and easier to flip through rather than bending you whole body to try to find the right spine for that one record you're looking for. I know, since I used Expedit earlier. IKEA's Ivar could also be used for record storage, with our without crates.

These are quite common in Scandinavia and in Sweden. One name to look out for is Marianne Richter. Not sure if she made this particular one, though - probably not.
However, some seller on Swedish eBay - www.tradera.com - might be willing to send the rug to the States. Probably expensive as hell, but if you really want one...

It's not really a String shelf, but a shelf made in the "spirit" of String, by Nisse Strinning. They are from the fifties and is supposed to hold a telephone book and a phone. Swedish eBay will give you plenty, but not sure everyone will ship to the states.
If you give me one american Herman Miller chair I will you give you a shelf! :)

What a cool thing. I did not know you could do that.

It's kind of funny to me seeing the name "Utby" here, since it's sort of a suburb to Gothenburg, in Sweden. Utby is kind of cozy, full of old, very tiny houses built extremly close together (for Sweden, that is) - once filled with regular workers, now being bought by with middle class families with kids.

Very nice. Many of the things in this house are things I would never thought of incoorporating in my own home, but the mix was just great.

No, I'm not sure about the effect, but we try to keep the eletrical stuff out of the bedroom. It seems kind of new age, I guess, but turn off your phone, no TV, no stereo, no nothing - I'm not sure it will improve your sleep, but it can't be bad.
