ADORE THIS HOUSE! All the elements are there:
great art, nice wall colors, and fantastic wood details. I'm also coveting the bench area in the kitchen. Hope my future home looks very much like this!

We live in Athens, Oh, a lovely college town in southeastern Ohio. We pay $600 a month for a 2-3 bedroom house with yard and laundry. However, this is a steal for the town and could be kept in better shape. Still, in this market, we could be paying less on a mortgage for a potentially much nicer house! grrrrrrrrrr.

I always take my hosts (friends) out to a meal if I am staying with them for a few days. I love it when guests do this when they stay at our house, so I just try to treat my hosts how I like to be treated!

I agree that beige is by far the worst color for a house, and unfortunately, maybe the most common. White and gray are also very common, but I think they can look more interesting than beige, depending on what colors they are paired with. I have noticed that green is also becoming popular, which I can't really understand because it tends to blend into the landscaping. My favorite colors for a house include yellow, and deep royal blues and purples. I love the color orange, and there is an awesome house in my town painted a very vibrant dark orange. I just am not sure if I could be brave enough to have an orange house!

Yes I also think it is hilarious that so many people hire cleaning ladies and get gym memberships! Think how much $$$ you would save if you just did cleaning your %@# self!

I would do a black and white check linoleum floor no matter what else you do. That way, you do not have to get rid of the appliances because the floor will tie the room together. I think you should paint the cabinets either white, or a pale blue/turquoise. Then I would paint the walls a deeper turquoise.
