The Minneapolis metro area is rich in excellent food shopping opportunities. From cheese shops, bakeries and butcher shops to small ethnic groceries, independents are dotted across the area. We have a local grocery chain called Lunds-Byerlys that, while high priced, sources quality, local products whenever possible. We have Cub stores that are more economical and try to sell local and organic as well as the lower priced house brands. We have Trader Joes and Whole Foods building new stores through out the area. Finally, we have terrific Farmer's Markets all over the metro area all summer and several that stay open, though with limited hours, all winter. The Best and Worst Supermarkets Consumer Reports |

Honeycrisps are a Minnesota apple, and grown elsewhere, do not have the flavor they should. Maybe you have to visit Minnesota to experience the real thing;). My Favorite All-Round Apple: The Rome Beauty Apple |

In addition to what lazy_lurker said, there inexpensive products called sticky stakes that will catch the flying gnats until the soil dries enough that insects are no longer hatching. How To Get Rid Of House Plant Gnats? Good Questions |
