Exsqueeze me? I hope you give more considerable thought before acquiring a pet.

For a different way of living, but no less 'home' or 'family', I nominate www.honeyrockdawn.com; the author is a truly inspirational woman who lives under the big sky.

P.S. I would also welcome a garden category :c)

These automatic plant waterers are a life (or plant) saver! I am supposed to be a professional, and yet I often forget to water my indoor plants. I have a couple of myrtle topiaries which are notorious for dying from lack of water (even just once!) and these things have saved my *ss. Highly recommended.

While I am in awe of people who open up their homes and spaces for commentary here, I figure they are always waiting for someone to say they don't like it. I guess that's me.
Because I love the period detail in this brownstone, esp the woodwork (including the floors), I just can't get by the cut-out from the living room to the kitchen, the kitchen cupboards and island, the range hood, and the furnishings in the dining room. There. I said it. It just is too incongruous for me.

A. American antique furniture is always worth more than European, at least according to my viewings of the Antique Roadshow. And this one has a lovely patina.

Elegant, light, crisp, serene - very nice.

I KNEW you could live in an airstream. Just like your own little womb. Heck, who needs a house? The only trouble is you also need to live in a 365-day-of-the-year warm climate. Small concession.

The giant plant in the living room is called Philodendron bipinnatifidum (was P. selloum) or Elephant Ear philodendron. Very tough plant, will take medium to lower light levels but can outgrow a space over time.

I, too, was a bit miffed by his choice of art 'in the style of' some well-known artists. It would be nice if he'd taken a chance on someone rather than go the safe road. But I think that being the-son-that-Martha-never-had might be limiting in terms of self-expression.

I agree. Amazing work making a box in the sky so personal, fresh and attractive.
What helps to really make it for me is the selection of plants: maidenhair fern, staghorns, muehlenbeckia (sp?) ... great green thumb!

Wow. Light, open, crisp, colourful and joyful. Beautiful. Thanks for the look-see.
But add me to the list that found the process arduous. Can't there just be a simple full-screen slide show without having to keep scrolling and clicking?

Love the light but wish they had kept more texture and patina -- I especially mourn the bare brick fireplace that was painted one-dimensional white.
A bit too clean for my taste.
