Our boys have been sleeping in a KURA (bunk bed style) since they were 3 & 4. We haven't had any problems with it. We read bedtime stories on the couch at night or in our bed. 10 Ways to Customize the Kura Loft Bed |

I agree with the layering technique! I also recommend IKEA's crib sheets; they are not fancy or organic or anything but they wash well, fit well and are inexpensive. A great option to have some extras for back-up. I think they are $9.99 for 2. Readers Survey: How Many Crib Sheets Do You Have |

As foster parents, we unexpectedly were placed with a two week old. No rocking chair. No glider. I fed him on our couch. Plenty of parents do not or cannot have one of these options and their babies end up healthy and happy. We are now planning for a baby this winter and I have no plans to put a glider/rocking chair in her room. We made it through seven months with our little guy without a lot of what people think of a "necessities" before he went home to his mom. I love the idea of a love seat/couch in the nursery. I am pretty sure my two boys (who happen to be adopted through foster care) would get a huge kick out of the monkey print. I like it & think lots of kids would.
