We always do family style, but I would imagine that you could go to town with some amazing tablescapes if you did Buffet style.

I would be too worried about the landlord suing me to mess with the floors without written permission. I don't know about other states but as a renter in Massachusetts, any damage you do to your apartment above the amount of your security deposit is still your responsibility (not just morally, but legally).

I throw a monthly waffle breakfast party. It started as a way to prove that we would actually use the waffle iron that we registered for! It's been a lot of fun, and there are fewer scheduling conflicts.

I have done the whole boiling and skimming thing once and it worked out just fine. I know it sounds really gross, but my general squeamishness was apparently overcome by my love of pancakes

note: the mold on my syrup was dark and on the top

I love how the wide plank floors add to the skewed scale.

I just tried this last night with my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. They were good when dunked in milk but had way to much crispy and not enough gooey! The cookies are so soft until they cooled that i had a really hard time getting them out whole... we had mostly cookie mash (it was still tasty though!)

I bet it could work with a different recipe but I think I'll be sticking to the oven from now on!

It would be nice if you could get shades that could be opened from the top or bottom for privacy with lots of light.
Here is an example

I think that the clean lines of Roman shades would compliment the space and you wouldn't have to worry about the length. I would do them in a orange and tan pattern to really wake up the room!

I recently move from a house with very little living space and an infinite amount of storage to an apartment with twice the living space and NO storage.

I am a pack rat by nature but a purger by habit. My husband is just a pack rat. I used to move every year which kept my things to a minimum, but when I settled in to one place for four years I managed to revert back to my roots. When we moved we got rid of 40% of our books and 60% of our clothes... what a good feeling to let go of all those "what ifs"...I should call it the great purge of '09... but I need the cure to push me into finishing (set up the office, decorate the bedroom...)
