Theoretically it's beautiful, but I can't imagine myself trying to step down the ladder with my hand(s) full of plates or any other heavy/fragile thing.

I don't have a huge kitchen, it's nearly half of the kitchen in the photos but I have a microwave attached to a wall on a shelf. It really helps and let my counter space be free.

Wow! I'm impressed that someone wrote about a place in Ankara instead of Istanbul. I'm from Istanbul but I live in Ankara since 2002, so if you visit here I'll be glad to help with anything in the future. By the way, I also recommend Izmir open bazaars (produce markets as you say). They sell great variety of herbs and edible plants.

I use Tefal's steamer and I LOVE it. It's plastic, but I despise the taste of vegetables when they're steamed in metal so it's all fine for me. It's strong, very easy to clean, transparent (makes it perfect to see the state of vegetables and avoid overcooking) and compact. If you're ok with plastic, I definitely recommend it.

Same here with using gmail for organizing. I also use a few other filters for the type of recipe like breakfast or desserts, so it's quite easy to find a complete list of certain types.

"Since quiche is never eaten raw..."

Why not? In here, it's very common to eat them raw when they're ripe. They're delicious raw or cooked. They're also great to nibble if you eat them raw and if the tartness is a problem, well green plums are also tart but we don't cook them, do we?

@Lunchy -- Traditionally meat is almost always added after onions&garlic while tomato paste is added right after the meat and tomatoes never before meat. However if you want tomatoes to be soft but not mushy, it's much better to add them after the slow cooking process. You can always add some water to prevent meat and green beans getting burned.

Living in Turkey, I confirm putting salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes to dish very typical but absolutely delicious dish. And when I read the "or several, if you're Turkish" part, I was nodding fiercely.

By the way @thinkingwoman you can use ground red meat ass well but try to not burn the meat since the green beans will take much longer to cook than the ground meat.

It depends. I like to read about daily life, cultural notes if it's a cooking book about a certain culture, cuisine. It makes the experience richer and helps imagination and mood.

I tend to be get bored if it's a general cooking book.

Love the photos -- very different from the cliché vacation photos.

There's a typo up there. It should be "Karakoy Lokantasi" not "Karakoy Locantsi." It's like writing restaurant as resturunt or so.
