6. Buy quality ingredients for mixers. Yeah, you can buy a technocolor plastic jug full of mixer, but nothing beats making your own out of fresh-squeezed lemon juice and homemade simple syrup.

Veda lured me in, but the lovely use of MCM furniture made me favorite your room. Great job!

Vote #868 for keeping everything cold. Chill the ingredients, chill the bowls, chill everything again between steps. I've made two pie crusts from scratch in my life using two different recipes, and they both turned out great.

The vodka crust recipe from Cook's Illustrated was the one I used this Thanksgiving, and it turned out fabulous.

When I was around 4 I ate the centers out of both of the pumpkin pies my mom had made on Thanksgiving Day. We had a house full of relatives and my mom was NOT happy. I couldn't eat pumpkin pie until I was an adult.

Now I mostly fear the potential of gaining 5 pounds from eating a single meal.

I am throwing a holiday cocktail party in late December. Do you think this is something I could freeze (minus the clarified butter top) for a few weeks?

Nothing is required, but if you wish to bring something consumables are best: wine, spirits, olives, cheese, jam, a nice candle in a fairly neutral scent (like vanilla), or some other special type of gourmet food the average person wouldn't splurge on for themselves.

I am totally a slow decorator. I've been in my apartment almost a year and no room is finished yet. I meet the bare minimum to function (which is why I still have a Target bookcase holding my TV) but wait until I find the perfect fit. I know what's going in my home when I see it, but it sometimes takes a lot of looking!

I keep gift wrapping relatively simple at my place: a roll of red (or silver) paper and curling ribbon in white. At Christmas I supplement with a pack of coordinating pre-made bows to avoid having to curl 500 yards of curling ribbon. This method saves space, time, and $$$.

I love this house. I would live in this house, and I'm so happy to see a beautiful home with mostly white walls, since I can't paint my rental. Bravo!

How about a clear shower curtain? It seems like it would really shrink the space if the tub gets blocked off by a solid one.

My favorite kitchen I've used was a small, galley-style walkthrough. Basically I could pivot two steps in any direction and get what I needed. It was great! It did open to a small dining area, so I could still chat with guests while cooking.

I think there's probably a happy medium between these and a regular faucet. Maybe a sprayer attachment? I mean, as long as the food isn't crusted on, rinsing with average water force works on dishes.

When I'm sick, I try to be kind to myself when I don't feel like doing routine things (like cleaning). I just tell myself it's temporary and things will get back to normal when I feel better.
