I love barley in hearty salads. I made this Mediterranean Roasted Veggie Barley Salad in the past and loved it.

Funny, I just called my mom over the phone to get her recipe for Cream Cheese Mints!

I wrote it down in chicken scratch (my messy shorthand), so I hope I decipher it correctly...

3oz cream cheese softened
1/4 tsp peppermint extract
3 cups powdered sugar, divided
granulated sugar for rolling (colored sugar if you'd like)

Mix together the cream cheese & extract.

Beat in 1.5 cups powdered sugar.

Knead in remaining powdered sugar.

Shape into 1/2 inch balls, roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, flatten with fork (like you would a peanut butter cookie), let stand for 1 hr, then store in refridgerator.

Hope that helps someone! I hope to make and blogs these!

My cousin once made a pulled meat barbecue in the slow-cooker. We actually ate it for Christmas dinner! It was delicious. Sorry, I don't have a recipe.

We discovered Tuaca after drinking a Wedding Cake martini at a restaurant. I then purchased a bottle and it sat in my liquor cabinet for a year. Finally on a cold winter snowed-in night, the man-friend and I had a mixology night and begain looking up recipes for it. We discovered a TnT - Tuaca and Tequila; and also a Milky Way - Tuaca, Kahula, Irish Creme, and something else... I can't remember. Either way... BOTH were incredibly delicious!

Here's a recipe for Butternut Squash Pasta Casserole. It was originally called Butternut Squash Macaroni, but I didn't use macaroni noodles. It's vegetarian & vegan, and delicious!

I saw that piece, and I was amazed. I am definitely jealous of the 3 year old school children of Paris!

I was going to suggest cilantro pesto! I used it in this Linguine with Shrimp & Cilantro Pesto<a/>. It was very good!

I've gotten into the habit of washing all my pots, pans, mixing bowls, knives, cooking utensils, wine glasses, storage containers (which I use at least 1 a day due to taking my lunch to work), etc by hand. I basically only wash cutting boards, plates, bowls, cups & glasses, & silverware in the dishwasher. This way I only run it about 1x a week. This is for a 2 person household.

I grew up with a dishwasher, except for a 3 year stint in middle school when we lived in a small farmhouse on our farm as we built a house. (The farmhouse also ONLY had a wood burning stove in ONE ROOM as a heat source for the entire house; and only a window airconditioner in one room. That house made me appreciate a LOT!)

I might... I was late to the Gourmet bandwagon, and my very first issue as a subscriber, was also their very last issue.

On a side note, at a bargain store last year I picked up a 2005 Gourmet cookbook with menus for parties & holidays, for only $5!!

One of my favorite recipes I discovered last summer was this Sweet Potato Salad. I used both orange and purple, and it was GORGEOUS. But most importantly, it was delicious!

I was excited to see Corsair mentioned! But as a correction, they are not fully moved from Bowling Green KY to Nashville. They do operations in both places.

Anyway, their gin is exceptional!
