Any suggestions for locating NEW MATTRESSES for old sleeper sofas? I have a twin that I'd like to update.

The NYT did a nice article recently (past 6 months?) on renovating small bathrooms. Perhaps you could get some ideas.

You need to look for dealers in "ephemera." These are people who deal in antique paper products -- maps, advertisements, tickets, sheet music... and Menus. This might be a good place to start: http://www.ephemerasociety.org/examples.html

The Brooklyn Seltzer man's name is Walter Beckerman and there are several nice articles about him on the web. I also found Gomberg Seltzer Works, 718-257-9369, and this lovely little article by the New York Press http://www.nypress.com/print.cfm?content_id=10119.

Clean line modern. Comfy-looking but not bulky. Fabulous -- I agree.

I found an old reference to a De Padova store on 49 Mercer street, opened in 2003, but can't find anything current and I would spend good money on a comfy armchair that fits in my little apartment. Damn.

I've been hunting for the same thing. It looks like this site carries all the inexpensive "prefab" models out there http://www.kitchenislands.com/ -- the same as Target/K-mart but a wider selection. Can't vouch for their service/quality.

I've also been trolling Craigslist and one of these models seems to come up about once a week, as in this ad, for example: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/fur/366475401.html

I work for a UK company with a UK based server's that automatically defaults to Google.co.uk. ANYWAY... on Google.uking "Manufactum International" I discovered they have several different websites: UK, Deutschland (Germany), Oesterreich (Austria), Schweitz (Switzerland) and International. Do the different sites offer different cool products? Stay tuned!

Yes, Les Demoiselles de Rochefort -- less baroque but just as insane as far as color and design go. Every single outfit, pair of shoes, building -- in every frame -- is perfectly coordinated in Mod Mod blocks of color, even down to the pairing of our two stars -- Deneuve, the blond, and her real life sister Françoise Dorleac, a brunette (who died in a car crash shortly after filming finished) who wear identical outfits in coordinated sherbert colors.

So worth renting, but try to see it on the big screen too if you can.

1) Double park.
2) Have extra person whose job is to sit in the truck cab just in case.
3) Unload EVERYTHING into the vestibule/downstairs hallway of your building as quickly as possible.
4) Once fully unloaded your extra person parks the truck legally...
5) ...while the rest of you take your time geting the stuff into your new apartment.
6) PS: Sunday Morning is the absolute best time to do this

A friend of mine renovated a 19th century Manhattan carriage house and put her bathtub in the bedroom because that's where they put the bathtub in the 19th century -- right next to the fireplace. Luxurious and fabulous, if you ask me.

And a few years ago I lived in a classic pre-code tenement On weekends it was a bubble bath, my morning tea, and conversation with my boyfriend who was breakfasting nearby. Also fabulous.
