the trout dip is pretty much making any kind dip (say, artichoke dip) with a dairy base and mixing in any of the leftover trout. add lots of lemon and dill and pepper when seasoning.

just imagine the fish as a salmon- it's part of the same family (salmoninae).

trout is not great for cioppino or any kind of stew- the meat is fatty and falls apart very quickly. it also tastes a lot like salmon (think of salmon in a ciopinno? no thanks)!

you can stove top smoke it, grill it, poach it, bake it, fry it. you also DO NOT need to scale the skin- they don't have hard, nasty scales that need to come off.

my favorite thing to do is cut off the head and tail (give those to the kitties), lightly dredge the fish in flour/salt/pepper/cayenne pepper and fry til the skin is crispy and flesh is light pink all the way through. keep the fish whole though! after letting the fish settle for a minute, it will be very easy to separate the bones and spine from the flesh.

if you poach it, leave the head on. there will be a fatty bit right above the eyeball that pops out when you push on it. it's so good!

any leftover fish can be made into trout dip and it's DELISH. can be frozen and rethawed after that.

I'm a trout angler and have cooked these guys a million times over. I also have a freezer full of fish I give away all the time.

I want to love the savoy book, but it's not cataloged or put into any kind of order. Looking for drinks based on what you have can be frustrating. Even worse is stumbling across something you like and not being able to find it again! Cocktaildb is a much better option, especially if you are limited in what you have on hand.

we all understand there is a difference between kosher and kosher for passover, thanks to your insistence in telling the community twice. she's not a kosher expert but merely offering up something to the group. how about you try doing just that instead of saying the same thing twice?

a better approach would be acknowledgeing what passover means to the jewish people and their food instead of nitpicking a dietary requirement.

how do you handle a cat who's a food scrounge from his outdoor days? our cat is constantly scrounging for food and is very determined to be where the food is when preparing his or anyone else's food on the counter.

spray bottles are a no-no with cats-- the constant spraying makes them neurotic.

custard powder is most commonly seen as Bird's custard- it's a short, squat tin with a red top. you can find it at cost plus or most higher end grocery stores with an (British) import section.
