BIG PROBLEM WITH THIS:
seems nice but there is a very small bacteria that is benign to cats and is expelled in their urine. Marine animals... particularly fish and many corals are extremely vulnerable to it and are getting sick and dying off at alarming rates because of increased flushable litters and cat toilet training; the bacteria is reaching the ocean through waste treatment.
If you just can't clean the box everyday please buy an automatic box and hide it creatively.

Wow. my fridge was disgusting... But!, it's clean and practically empty. So nice. Vacuumed a lot underneath and tried to clean the coils as best I could. I hope it helps it run better. (It's decades old - but does the job. I rent)
It was hard to get to them for me as well; and I might do it again this wkend as they're still icky. Bleeeccckk!

I have this one really clean corner amongst the horror and it's great because now I'm really motivated to spread the airy, sunshine-y clean through out the whole room. Hey. I may be a usable kitchen soon! Yay!

I'm like Fontessa. Dozens.
I collect dictionaries. Not as actively lately... What with the whole purging Outbox going. But, I still kept my best and favorites. And will always buy an old cheap obscure Dictionary when I find one is a used bookstore.
Websters sucks.
OED rules.

Whew...
I've gotten more done this cure than any other...
I've finally gotten so SICK of my kitchen I 've just bucked up and DONE IT. :p
It's kinda interesting to be doing a one-room deep treatment, and adapting each week's assignment to that one room. This week will be easy to do all in the kitchen.
"It will be clean, it will be clean, it will be clean..."

wow.
Okay.
THIS weekend I cleaned out my sink, defrosted my fridge.. took apart the bottom (have to finish vacuuming coils and such), scrubbed, scrubbed, scrubbed.
Let's see: I removed the stuff around the windows (have to scrub window before I put up the pot rack), and organized all the cleaning products into bins under the sink. Whew!
Did a few other puttery-pokey things like organized pencils in my office cabinet, sanitized the cat box, and did all the recycling, BUT, my main thing is the one room Deep Treatment on the kitchen.
SO, those are accomplishments. Eventually, it might actually be safe to cook and eat in.

K. I washed dishes all day on Saturday.. I mean ALL DAY. I got about a 5th of them done... Does that tell you something about my Kitchen. yikes. It's okay tho'... it's okay. keep going. baby steps.

I've been keeping a e-journal of all my cure work for the last 2 years. (Not that my house reflects 2 years of curing. xp ) But!, I don't have a blog or anything. I just realized I could cut & paste some of my entries into the comments & flickr discussions, so I could, you know, get feed back and encouragement. der!

I have a bad habit of 'doing it by myself'. Perhaps that's why my progress has been so slow...
My brain knows that making changes is always easier and more successful in a group, but my actions usually take forever to reflect that. Definitely an OLD habit that lingers.

I'm with MirandaJ;
Screw the homeless. Especially in an Urban area. I mean, really! Find a good doorway to sleep in already! Or better yet. Go away!

On a different note: This is soooo great. And I love the humor! And the Tenderloin could use some green. :)
I'm forwarding this to my best bud in the City. He can point it out to some of his cooler fares. (Cab driver)

megagamma,
I too have found 'hiding' behind an internet identity eases the 'eeeek' factor of outing my true icky living. (wait til you see my pics... it's really gross)
no worries tho'. that's why we're here right? :)

STLcolleen, bunny;
I'm ALSO doing both cures. I'm doing a 'deep treatment' on my Kitchen for my SF spring cure, and then this one... I figure with the over lap my kitchen MIGHT be actually clean and organized by the end.

27angels, megagamma:
of course you can still join!!
Read the previous posts. sign in. explore the OLD archived cures (click on the tags and go to ny for "main" posts and old cures--- they used to do it from the main page all together instead of separating by geographic location.)
Just explore and do your best... the main thing is to work on your space and find a place to post where you can get ENCOURAGEMENT. :)
Don't try to do too much. (speaking from experience here). Since it's week one you are right on schedule. (no 'catching up')
AND HAVE FUN!!!
:)
good luck

I'll be back... didn't participate much on the boards for the last cure... It was confusing for me with the new split format. (I'd participated in 2 other cures when it was all one board on the NY site)

I think I'll be sticking with just the SF group this time. And I'll be "Deep Treating" just my Kitchen.

Yay!

Logging in to each new site to leave my feedback.
Wow :(

I hate it.
Bring back the community feeling. Y'know, like having friends over and creating the community that 's the supposed dictum of the AT philosophy.
I had grown to feel like AT really was a community, as the original mission stated.
Now it feels like a shopping site. Or a narcissistic blog that's being posted for all to read but not really meant to join in on.
I guess y'all just out grew us. I enjoyed it while it lasted.
Posted plenty of other comments over on the other 'Sites,'so I'll just end by saying I feel like I'm posting on some giant corporate, faceless .com.

btw,
Here's what I posted over at The Kitchn site:
Left my very disappointed comments over at the very confusing main AT site (or was it new york?, and was it a completely different site?, and WHY?).
HATE THIS!
I am profoundly bummed.
And I find the separation the Kitchen section dumb and ironic. A main component of the Cure and AT's philosophy is to cook at home, to bring warmth and life to your apt by using your kitchen. (Which is why I'm assuming there was a Kitchen section on a 'design' site - am I wrong?)
As I've been doing the cure for the last year (deep treatment girl here) I've been looking forward to the day when I would switch my home page from ATNY to ATKitchen.
Whatever.
I promised I would keep coming back through the holiday's to give it a fair shot and so I will. But this just sucks. I really feel like I've lost something.
I'm sure readership will remain high, but I can't help feeling there will be a large turnover in who is here from long time AT participant's to new AT SHOPPERS.

Second day.
Still hate it.
hate hate hate it!
So confusing. So Cluttered. So disappointing. I've just spent 45 minutes trying to simply navigate the re-design posts. I usually spend 30 minutes at lunch navigating ALL the at sites, reading and commenting on posts i'm interested in.
I realized you may have decreased the number of ads (which NEVER bugged me before, and that I often jumped over to), but I can't tell what's what. What's a post? What's an ad? What's a new feature? What's a deeper part of the blog, like store, community, house tours, or products & services.
Damn.
This was one of my home pages.
Now i'm immensely frustrated and CANNOT send friends here to explain my ongoing home "work" because I think it will just confuse them.
What the Hell?!!?!
