We did a remodel/rearrange after our cable guy hacked at our walls with the dreaded cable gun!

So we ripped the staples out, spackled / painted, and put it back in, but at the very bottom of the wall against the floor. We used the white clips (2 nails and a white plastic clip) at measured intervals, which made it look 100% better already, just having some order and sanity with the installation.

That was good with us - if that is still too unsightly for you, you can purchase a piece of molding and use a router to carve out a chunk from behind (where the wire would go).

Of course, this idea would also work for an elaborate crown molding at the bottom of a floor.

Also, if not into longevity - long velcro strips can be attached to the wall and the molding for easy redesigns (do 5-6 foot long segments for easy switching up).

I have always wanted a wall that had molding up to the chair rail. Like a long undulating wall of molding. Would look very good in a modern home.

More than you wanted or needed to know.

Good luck!

i'm getting a white grimy grit on all dishes (especially glasses!) in the dishwasher. It's horrible. Additional rinse cycles don't help.
The only solution is to soak the offending items in a vinegar/water solution and then rinse clean.
Makes the house smell like pickles.

LAME.

I agree. Target is crappy construction. I would rather DIY some of these products.
Bookcases are important structures and I don't think it's a good idea to buy them at Target. Maybe disposable furniture for a dormroom or something.
Dishes, silverware, linens, etc are all OK and at least have a longer lifespan than crappy offgassing particle board furniture. That's what IKEA is for.

Self watering planters are an indoor plant's savior.

Here are some:

We got some of these in orange. But you might want to go deeper for indoor gardening. And leave the windows open from time to time...

I think this would look great in a room with that fake forest wallpaper.
The LA Downtown Standard has a room with that theme going on (or did). This speaker would look great.
Or in a bedroom with a fake bird on top.

If you live in an Artist's Loft in LA, even in a super-crappy/awesome area, you are not protected under any rent control unless the CRA originally gave money to the project and even then, not all units will be protected.
When I first moved into my loft in 2001, I was paying $1850, by the time I left Feb of this year I was paying $3200.
I recently bought a 1400sqft loft with my fiancee and we're in the midst of turning it from a shell into a home. That is the only way out of the rental game. Right now, there are like 3 short sales and one foreclosure in my downtown Artists District Building. The "luxury" building next door is charging crazy sales prices on new units with high HOAs. I love the area. Save up for a down payment and buy a piece of the pie.
Renting definitely has its problems. I'm sorry you are having to relocate. Not everyone can afford to buy mutli-unit buildings and "decide" to combine 2 units into one. Must be nice to be rolling in it.

It's a bit like the Barney's store, where in the mens dressing rooms they have silhouettes with male names scrawled under them in pencil, then pithy descriptions.

Example:
Russell
is a gay black
midget golfer
