This was an interesting article ... Sometimes I get so mad how vintage items & propping has gotten so trendy ... I have been enjoying old typewriters & fiestaware since using them at my grandmothers house when I was young ive been collecting yard sale finds & antiques since I was old enough to shop ... A lot of those items adorn my house now I get inspiration from design blogs from time to time to think of new ways to display them but the truth is a lot of pieces in my home are from my grandmother & other family members &hold more meaning then just "looking cool" & I'll still hold on to tha same aesthetic long after its trendiness wears off. I find my addiction to design has gotten worse in the last few years, which coincides with when I began reading shelter and design blogs ha ha... but i tell myself, my house is a work in progress and also it takes a lot of time and money to create some(or most) of the looks I love, both of which are in short supply lately. I try to do things when I can or when the mood strikes but don’t get too hard on myself if my apartment doesn’t look like an AT house tour … yet. Are You a Decorating Addict? |

oh to be specific ... i had a vintage frye vest ... it was fun but i could never cool off the leather vest look without looking totally foolish, just not my style ... i decided to trade it in at my local buffalo exchange and a few months later, at the same store i found a pair of frye boots for 50 dollars ... a pair i had wanted for years! I feel like I run into this problem all the time with both stuff for my house and clothes! I def believe in karma ... it seems when I finally rid of something that I am not using, the universe presents what I have coveting (for that moment at least) to me. I like to change things up tastefully ... I tend to burn more candles, put out the throw blankets and place pumpkins here and there when it comes fall and then in the winter make it even cozier with christmas decorations that are understated or have a certain nostalgia tied to them ... but you wouldnt catch me putting up those horrible blow up pumpkins, sants, even pilgirms that people put on their front lawn ... tacky. I love those! I have a vintage typewriter my grandparents bought me at a yard sale when i was younger ... its one of my favorite pieces in my house because it looks cool and because of the memories attached to it ... also, i am developing an addiction to vintage pyrex bowls which started when my grandmothers primary color mixing bowl set got passed down to me! I like the candle idea ... maybe paint the brick white and put a bunch of different sized candles in that area. What To Do with Fireplace Remnant? Good Questions |

I am learning this ... I read AT and other design websites and I have a list a mile long of things i want to do ... then I tell myself, I have a full time job and limited funds, tools, and knowledge ... and tell myself to calm down ha ha. Do You Know Your DIY Limits? |

I agree with emmabemma ... I read a slew of design blogs daily but I never seem to read any of the online mags ... I read the blogs during downtime at work because they are quick easy reads and when I go home, the last thing I want to do is sit at the computer ... there is something so nice about having a hard copy and being able to read it in bed, or at the beach. I love my fridge clutter, its filled with funny postcards, magnets and photos ... but its all neatly arranged and every so often I switch it up. It's like my grow-up corkboard from my room growing up. The Endless Fridge Debate: To Clutter or Not To Clutter? |

Donut ripped the bottom of my box spring and slept underneath it ... it was like we had a bunk bed for awhile. She also follows me and my boyfriend into the bathroom and meows until we turn on the tub ... then she sticks her head underneath it and drinks from it. She also freaks out over lights and shadows and once after getting all hopped up on cat nip knocked my antique typewriter off my bureau trying to chase a shadow ... I still have no idea how she did that! Catering to Your Pet's Quirks |
