Oh the chocolate tart looks wonderful.. I often buy such things then stencil them with icing sugar or edible gold powder depending on the colour of the tart. The results look fabulous and it only takes minutes. My other cookery vice is cooking with lavender so I want to try to make apple and lavender tarte tartin. I can not get those makes in the UK otherwise I'd buy them. Let's Celebrate! 8 Alternatives to Birthday Cake |

I don't know whether Erica used a stencil to create her chevron art work but there is one at The Stencil-Library that looks just like it. Anyway, she did a wonderful job and maybe she will tell us. I like her destination boards too. A very lovely home Erica's Contemporary Rogers Park Loft House Tour |

Two duvets above and one below me plus a hot water bottle in a furry cover. That sorts out a northern British winter. I'm coveting Amymj's snuggly pug though. Winter Nights: Tips for Keeping Warm in Bed Reader Intelligence Report |

I have a some walls in my home and love them. They are stencilled with a damask pattern in gloss varnish. Puny compared to this space though.

Everythingtwogether. A stencil is a tool for applying pattern, usually with paint but not always. Sun exposure would not make a difference because one would paint over the stenciled pattern to remove it. You may have confused a stencil with a decal. Earlier in this post I suggested that stencils could be used to decorate wallpaper, fabric or canvas and then hung as artwork. They can move home when you do. A stencil is one of the best tools to decorate with when living in someone else's property. Use one to decorate lengths of paper with the color and design that you want. There are plenty of large scale stencils around. A smaller design repeated many times works well too. Stencil onto fabric and block canvas to personalize spaces. Floors can be decorated with painted and varnished canvas, all of these things will add color and personality and can move home with you when you leave. The same tool can decorate furniture and fabric if you want lots of use from it. Home Projects for Renters: Reversible Wall Decor |

If you fancy the idea of stenciling tall tree trunks over walls or fabric and lack Christine's courage or stencil making skill then there is one very similar for sale from The Stencil Library. I posted about it in July 2008.

I am hugely late to this thread and I hope that you got the job done successfully. If not ask me. They were my hands in the picture I stencil many reverse and negative patterns and I could have told you. It is a simple process. Cut a few leaf leaf shapes from Mylar film. Adhere to the wall with a light spray of repision adhesive. Apply the paint to the wall with a roller. Roll away the excess paint so that so that the paint is damp not wet. Start the rollering process on the mylar shapes and roll off them. The edges will be clean if you worked off the excess paint. Remove the leaf mask to reveal a white leaf on your newly painted green wall. This method works really well on patterned wallpaper. There are lots of stencil how to's on my blog. Those that say that stencilling is a pain don't know how to do it correctly. Good Questions: Looking for Stencil Project Tips |
