So many windows and still cozy; a wonderful balance. I also think you've made great use of the built in benches: some seating, some display -- very well done.

Wow! Can I call the structure that defines your living room a sculpture? It's amazing visually and psychologically and creatively; such a great idea and wonderful execution. I hope you feel happy and proud every time you come home.

Love your use of blue and I'm envious of your refrigerator - my dream (small) kitchen has a tall narrow 'frig. So nice to see one is a real place.

Pat yourself on the back for the stenciled wall - it looks wonderful and it "talks" so happily with your couch throw pillows. Also glad to see Fullerton represented!

Your TV stand is great! It could be a character in a Pixar film.

I am intrigued by the art over the mantel. Has this emerged over time or was it created all at once?

Very cool how the spots of sunlight relate to the bedding.

"I wanted purple walls" could go so wrong -- but it didn't. Very nice room. Like the cat too.

Really like the red and white fabrics in and of themselves and as a contrast to the blue walls.

Once you get all the grout clean you should consider sealing it. There's a post over a Young House Love with the hows and whys of grout sealing.

Please hire Patrick. Please.

His writing and sense of humor made me want to see the whole tour. His photos are clever (the transit sign half blocked by the door) and a good balance of wide angle and detail. I like that his detailed pictures were more than a zoom in on a personal vignette (the corner the fireplace shows a great detail and is abstract art in its own right).

Wonderful job Patrick!

I have a wooden trunk that I will always keep because it was made by my great uncle for my great aunt as a hope chest in the 1920's. It's been a bench at the foot of a bed and a coffee table and it's held everything from filing to throw pillows.

ebrown & bepsf - wow, covering school books with brown paper goes way back. But what I really remember is how great some covers looked at the end of a semester when the paper had softened, the edges were rubbed and every inch was covered with doodles and notes and drawings.

I agree about the metal type. I have a cast iron an "a" and a "z" for which I paid much less money. They've been great as stand alone art on my bookshelves and as bookends.

As an adult I've moved 13 times and definitely recommend pre-planning and pre-packing if only as a courtesy to the people helping you with the move. It's so much easier to round up volunteers if they only have to haul boxes that aren't too heavy and pack easily in a truck. Good packing also makes the day of the move go more quickly; it's nice to have some daylight left to enjoy pizza and beer before all your friends leave you to start unpacking.

Also, on my last move I hired movers and not only were they pleasantly surprised that everything was neatly boxed and marked they, then, took great care to pay attention to the labels on the boxes, took equally good care of my furniture and had a great attitude from start to finish. Apparently my packing set the tone for the move so that's something to keep in mind.
