Sharing an office with a bed? Do I mind it? Well, let's see...not all of us living in an urban setting can buy or rent a space where we can allocate an entire room for just a computer, desk and chair. And secondly, now that I think about it, I never really questioned whether or not a work area with a computer would be an issue if it were to be in the same room as my bed. So in turn, this article is a bit unnecessary, no? BTW - my "office" is part of my living room - not my bedroom. I hope I'm not going to hell for this.

Seriously. And doesn't this completely ruin the purpose of the iPad to begin with? I mean, if you're going to do that to an iBook, wouldn't you be better off just getting a laptop that can multi-task rather than hollowing out one to accommodate a giant iphone?

Why does being "green" have to be expensive? $220 for a recycled cardboard desk? And you wonder why people flock to Ikea and buy $70 desk. Sorry, but cheap will override "saving Mother Earth" any day. Seriously. The designers and manufacturers of these "green" furniture need to wake up. You can be chic and affordable.

I honestly like it the way it is. Not sure what type of look you're going to go for once you're moved in but if you're going to for the raw loft look, I'd just keep it as it.

I use both and what I noticed is that myspace is more of a social network or if you're trying to promote something. For example, my myspace site (www.myspace.com/phagazine) is actually an extension of my blog site (www.phagazine.com). When I started up my myspace site for my regular site, my hits soared. It was amazing.

Now for the Facebook, it's really for professionals that network. I really like how I can find other employees in my company or other companies that I use work for.

Very cool but can I suspect that it's VERY expensive?

That's the problem that they had back when they were deciding on a location for the Ikea store in Philly. Eventually, they ended up using a very large lot that's right on the water (old dock). I believe they had to tear down a few old factories as well. I would have to say that with the Ikea where it is now, it's definitely bringing life into that particular area in Philly where a lot of the factories were abandoned and at the same time there are neighborhoods next to this empty area that is now benefiting.

No...I just try to act stupid so people like yourself can get an ego boost by trying to dumb another person down.

I remember when Ikea finally decided to open a location inside of the PHiladelphia vicinity. They now have two locations in the Philly area and are less than 15 miles away from each other. At first, residents in the new location balked about a big store opening but it's been 2 years now and it's really made the location explode in businesses, etc. There's less complaining and more shopping in that area. It's also attracted higher property value as well as new housing.

So all in all, I'm sure Ikea does not just throw a dart on a map to decide their next location. I'm sure that a lot of analysis goes into it before hand. No company would want to risk it unless they were certain there would be following/success in the new location.

No...I do not get jokes. In matter of fact, you can see my set up here:

I can see why people with a lot of Ikea products may get made fun of but if I were to walk into someone's place and it looked like a DWR showcase, I would think that person was a snob. So it goes both ways. I for one choose not to break my bank and be laughed at at the same time.

So SomeSteff, are you telling me that everything that you buy is "green"? I doubt it.

I would rather spend $40.00 on a dining chair made out a veneer that may last me a few years and then I give it to the salvation army than to spend $300.00 on a designer bamboo dining chair that may or may not last a few years through heavy use.

There's being "green" and then there's being sensible. If you ask everyone to go "green", we'd all either be broke or have fugly furniture.

It's really about time that NY'ers get an Ikea closer to them. This is very very good news.

I understand that being "green" these days is hip but how does that translate into "expensive"? Those two words just seems to contradict each other when in the same sentence.

These designers and/or companies have to realize that we would all love to do our part to stay "green" or to help the earth out a little, but it's also their responsibility to not make products for the earth conscious individuals so ridiculously expensive.

I'm sorry but coming from someone that has tattoos, that is just a complete waste. It's one thing to express yourself in the tattoos that you decide to get but a product symbol? I've seen the "VW", "Apple", even "chevy" logos but this one beats them all. Total waste.

I'm sorry but what justifies a chair that cost more than a top of the line plasma/lcd television?

Not to be one of those PETA people but I am very against keeping those poor Betas in those small bowls. Would you want to be locked up in a 6x6 room?

Also, as much as I would LOVE to have an iPhone, I probably wouldn't get it for the following reasons:

1. It's too expensive
2. Is it truly more for business users (Blackberry type) or more for the Paris Hilton wannabe users (Sidekick)? We will not know until this thing is actually out and about.
3. With the iPhone, other cell phone manufacturers are going to have to reinvent their GUIs...therefore more user friendly environments will surface and within a few months more reasonable prices should surface.

Don't get me wrong, I want this thing and I'm hooked. But the part of the brain that spits out the "common sense" stuff is telling me to hold off just for a few months until things cool down.

I disagree. Imagine having to carry your ipod, cell phone, digital camera or even a gps system at all once! I have used "smart" phones for quite some time and I see this not as a total evolution of cell phones but more of a refinement of what cell phones have become and what they are capable of. What the iphone will do to the cell phone industry however is how the interfaces are designed. The way Apple has designed the user interface for the iphone is just pure genious. I would have to same it's a leap forward...almost comparable to when people switched from an MS-DOS interface to MS Windows.
