Fear not, friends. If you have a microwave, pop your sponges in for one minute when you've finished the dishes. Not much can survive that.

I just wanted to add that regular foam and memory foam outgas like crazy. Please be informed before sleeping 8hrs a night, every night, on these.

Here's my post on that topic:

And my source (one of many):

Though all products come with life cycle pros and cons, here are a few alternatives that are readily available at a variety of price points: feather, down, wool, corn fibre, polyester fibre, bamboo fibre, latex and kapok. Most are treated in one way or another so label-reading is good here too if you're sensitive or allergic.
Happy slumber!

Also, here's a chart on water usage for those interested. So good to know that this many people are concerned and try to take care of our resources.

Oh guiltmaster, 3-4 inches does not a bath make. Best you save up those inches for one really good, infrequent soak, no? Good for the mind, good for the soul.

True, the fence is lovely but I'd like to know from the readers if this is something not seen in the rest of the country? Here in LA, the horizontal fence has been pretty much standard fare for, I'd say, over 5 years. Please don't read this as elitist or anything, I'm really just curious about the spread of such aesthetic trends.

Pop me an answer here or via my tiny, little design blog:

Thanks, all!

I'm doing a similar reno right now, converting a bland older home into a budget-friendly architectural. For me it's all about light, how you personally use the space, and staying true to the environment as possible. Style is how you see the world and in quality, thoughtfully selected materials, not in brand names. Go with what makes you comfortable!

Apartment Therapy Chicago | CHI Good Questions: Help with Kitchen Redesign?

Why coat the very place food and dishes are washed with some mysterious happy chemical? (By the way, adding bleach and drain openers to the city water system contributes to an ecological nightmare. We don't need to use them.)

If one doesn't want to deal with the problem oneself, then call a plumber. They'll source the issue (perhaps accumulated fats, etc. lining the pipes) and handle it effectively and probably for a lot less that the gallons of Febreeze that will have to be purchased over time.

I hope those with stinky drains will deal with the common household problem rather than masking the effects with chemical solutions. The kitchen is where we feed ourselves and our families with the wholesome ingredients to life. Unless you would ingest it, don't bring it near your food.

OMG! I love you for doing this. I no longer need to spend hours trolling for crap I don't need yet can't resist. Wait...that's a good thing, right?

Seriously. Nice picks. Thanks.
