There's something so effortlessly great about this house. Absolutely lovely.

Without having read any of the other comments let me give you a resounding YES! I was just thinking about this as I watched one child eating breakfast, another doing some last minute homework, and a third working on his laptop before school this morning while I drank some ice water while folding some clothes all while we sat at the bar.

It's the most used area of our house short of our beds and the couch in the family room. It makes entertaining easier. I often remove the bar stools and use that area as place to serve food when we're having a big party. But the rest of the time we eat there more than we do at our table.

Yes, there seems to be some disagreement about bedroom or bathroom. But either way I think the answers are probably similar.

White could look good in either space depending on what you add to it. But I also think a light yellow or a light green could be really nice too - in either space. Black might be really interesting and that's a more daring choice, but one that I think could look awesome.

I submit that whatever you decide in regards to sage is perfectly acceptable for whatever it means to you. Frankly, don't worry about what anyone else thinks. Ritual has a nice way to helping us to be clear about our intentions and freeing up space within us to begin anew.

In that same vein - it can be very painful, breakups. I myself got divorced last year after 21 years of marriage. Living in a house that was our former house together and even harder, a bedroom which was ours, became very difficult. Moving isn't an option for me. But moving rooms was something I finally struck upon after several months. Staring over in a different bedroom with paint and new bedding and new decor did wonders. It continues to be a place of healing for me. Even if you aren't able to change rooms, considering changing things which will lead you to feel renewed and like you're starting over fresh. This will help you I as well as anything else you decide makes sense.

Good luck. Take good care of yourself.

I wish there was a 'cure' video every day all year long. I know that's probably impractical for you Maxwell, but I liked my little dose of Max every day.

I'm super pleased with how the Cure got me thinking about a number of ways I could make improvements. I feel like even buying or gathering the flowers - even if I had done nothing else, that helped me re-vitalize.

The ceiling is green noticetothepublic, I considered going white, but in the end I just decided with it being a small space I've had better luck in smaller rooms keeping the ceiling and walls all one color. There is a lot of white in the chair rail and that helps a lot to keep it from going completely over the edge into psychotic green room. I definitely could have given a lighter treatment had I just gone for an accent wall. But the photos are slightly deceptive as well. If you look at the one photo that shows a cup on my dresser, that is the true color of the paint and during much of the day, that's the feel the room has. The photos were taken in a lower light of the day, and that's when it tends to get a glowy feel.

It might sound a little strange but I actually think a deep charcoal would work well. Our house is similarly colored brick on the exterior, and I have painted all the rear and side of the house siding charcoal and adding a red door. I honestly think I could have done the door almost any color after painting the trim that way. Here's a blog post showing the trim charcoal I used: http://bandanamom.blogspot.com/2009/12/welcome-home.html (the first couple of photos are my front door, towards the end of the post you can see the large areas of siding in the exterior of the house painted this same charcoal). I tried a few other colors of trim over the years with the brick and this is my favorite. Good luck! (by the way, I kept the garage door an off-white, I still haven't decided if I'm going to change that...)

I'm liking the blue recommendations, but my immediate thought was orange. There is a similar house in our neighborhood with some bright white paint on parts of the house, brick similar to yours and then orange. I really like it.

I'm in the process of deciding on greens for a bedroom and home office remodel. I am usually pretty good at picking paint colors and rarely have to re-paint. What I find is super effective is to put every paint chip you are considering on the wall with tape - look at it VERY frequently. The light constantly changes the color throughout the day. Then look at it at night with the lights on and off in the room. Each time you look you'll probably notice that one of the colors really doesn't seem right to you. You just put a little x on that one to note that you think it's out. Once you're sure a color is not going to work, pull it off the wall. After about a few days you'll probably have narrowed it down to the last couple of candidates. That's when you can ask other people their opinion. Have a friend/spouse/neighbor look and tell you which they like better. Don't decide for sure for a week. I guarantee you'll find the perfect shade. And when you get paint chips get them from a bunch of different places - go to a place like home depot and get all the greens that look like a possibility in all the different manufactured paints. But also do a run to a place like Sherwin Williams, or Dunn Edwards or Frazee. All of those companies have slightly different shades in their chips. If you love Dunn Edwards paint (my personal favorite, with Martha Stewarts paint running a close second), but like the color of a Behr chip - they will match it for you.

Go bold! I would opt for a bold red & charcoal, or yellow & charcoal, or royal blue. It would look awesome.

I have a similar brick and at first I stuck with whites, moved to creams, did a dark green trim for a while, had a black door for a time and finally this year got happy (It's only taken me over 10 years of trying) with a very dark gray trim, which is also on the siding in the back of the house (that area was an add on) - almost charcoal, and a bold red door - there is still some cream paint under the eves, which just kind of works - I am finally happy with it. You can see some of the photos of the exterior of my house at the home tour that was here on apt. therapy http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/house-tours/lezlees-beverly-modern-manor-house-tour-100505

I agree with the blues - I think there are several light blues that could look great.

I also think it might be worth looking at some yellows. Without being in the space I would hesitate recommending a specific tone - but I think yellow walls with a red sofa can look really good if done carefully.
