thanks! i really like anna's work. it's on the dark side but it's also really beautiful so i don't think it reads as overly heavy.

I love the idea of this post- there are certainly many ways of displaying artwork. Perhaps more importantly, art looks best when it doesn't overwhelm a space but adds just the right amount of visual interest. IMO the last photo is the best example of this.

What a beautiful home! Everything is so crisp and clean without feeling stark. Clearly an incredible amount of work went into this place. The art collection, framing and placement is really inspirational!

I'm curious about the piece of art that is above the light switch in the above photo. Is it a print? It looks great!

Love Jill's work! Would definitely attend the show if I were on the Left Coast. Great to see an awesome artist get attention on AT!

I'd argue that price is also a significant factor here. If you spend $50 or $100 on a print or a small piece, it's not the end of the world if the receiver doesn't love it. Going way beyond that price range definitely ups the stakes, not to mention the fact that most art isn't easily returnable.

The concept of Print Society, one-stop-shopping for prints, makes a lot of sense given how many small print shops* have popped up online over the last few years. However, the value is really only there if Print Society is able to attract a good number of these shops.

As for mixing stripes and art, I think there's a fine line between making a piece pop and creating too much visual noise. I think the best example is the first photo, where the stripes are neutral and work with the size of the painting. Meanwhile some of the other photos feel a bit chaotic in my opinion.

Very inspiring! That's a lot of art in not such a big space, but she manages to make it feel cohesive, not overwhelming.

I'm also a big fan of art above bedside tables. It's intimate and works well for smaller pieces. Plus you don't have to worry about it falling on your head or as serrakat says damaging the artwork itself.
