Great job working with a very challenging space! ...love those lanterns along the concrete wall...the North African style is great for this space, since you have hard surfaces and can't fill it with a lot of green plants anyway.

I have one idea...maybe you could add a simple, rectangular water garden container (with goldfish!) to the area below the stairs. It looks like it might still get enough light there.

I really like your yard. It's not overly "designy" ...it seems relaxed and fun. Reminds me of a friend's place in Middle Tennessee where we had some great parties. I also love those Edison lightbulbs!

This house is so old, I wonder if the railings, window boxes, and other metal house trimmings disappeared during wartime (maybe the Spanish-American War, WWI or WWII ?) ...lots of metal was gathered and recycled for military use during the wars, so if the building was already falling apart, maybe that's where those old pieces went.

If not, it would be really cool to find the originals and put them back.

Sadly, these kinds of basic homes were needed even before the earthquake! I'm inspired to help. On a side note...I found a great website for Haitian relief that works with Partners in Health to build health clinics. Maybe they should get together with Habitat on this project for houses --> givehaitihope.org

These outdated guidelines also just go to show that one doesn't need to know every little fussy rule of etiquette... just some common sense, decency and consideration can go a long way...something that is becoming more and more rare in our modern society, I'm afraid.

My favorite might have actually been the puzzling Michael Jackson baseball. I bet Andy Warhol would have bought one!

That whole site is a riot. My stomach hurts from laughing. Whoever wrote the captions has a great sense of humour! They should win some sort of award for coming up with the name "Regretsy."

I want to have drink by that pool. Brazilians make such good music and buildings.

The Queen Victoria room makes me think of a Stanley Kubrick set. Very surreal and strange. I like it.
