If shipping is an option, you might try Couch in Seattle. It was covered on AT earlier this month. http://ecocouch.wordpress.com/

Ditto, DianneS's mom. I don't have a lawn any more (all garden/landscaping). I rake them off the sidewalk and street and put them on the flower beds and around the trees themselves. They break down by spring.

I just painted my bedroom in flat finish Natura. It went on smoothly and only one coat was needed.

I too feel like this will soon be dated. I'd rather have a traditional, realistic style, but let the styling cues of the subject, the body language and background modernize it.

They're cute, but are awfully literal. They make me think of a themed restaurant.

As others have said, landscaping would make a huge difference. You could break up the garage wall with an arbor that ran over the doors and protruded 24" or so. Then grow jasmine, wisteria, climbing rose, etc. Assuming there's earth on either in which to plant. Can't tell what's concrete and what's bare dirt.

I'm in the midst of landscaping the backyard and will use the money to buy a couple of trees. I'm thinking a Japanese maple and a crepe myrtle.

I believe the etching compound only dissolves plant fibers (in this case, the rayon). So you have to use a blend of synthetic (or animal, like silk, wool, etc.) fibers and plant if you want the opaque/translucent contrast. If you just used cotton, it would eat it all the way through.

I agree with beelzabean, this would be easy to approximate (and personalize) for way less than $5500.

That's cool. I'm curious why you dry fit the chair first if you were trying to get the paint in the cracks. Why not paint the pieces first?

A deco veneer dresser that was the first piece of adult furniture I bought after college. I still love and use it.

Christmas in Killarney by the Irish Rovers. (With lots of Nat King Cole in rotation.) Red would be awesome.

If you don't want a taught, tailored fabric wall, you could also run a length of thin aircraft cable from corner to corner (using eye hooks and a turnbuckle to make it taught) and get inexpensive clips from IKEA for drapery. Or use a traditional rod and rings or hooks. If you wanted to hang artwork or a mirror in front of the drapes, you could mount a knob or hook to the wall that would stick out between fabric panels and use decorative cloth ribbon instead of picture wire.

Janbrady, if you use a plywood board with a metal bed frame, remember to support the middle of the board somehow or your mattress will definitely sag, and the board may break. Plywood generally comes in 4'x8' sheets. Anything bigger than a twin would call for two sheets of ply, so you'll have a seam to support as well.

I have a West Elm basic platform that I bought a couple of years ago and, like Frau, had a problem with the original metal support. They replaced it for free with a much sturdier one and I have had no problems since.
