Personally, I enjoy reading these types of posts! Even though the answer might be able to be googled, I would have never known that frog legs do this. I don't eat them, but it doesn't mean it's not interesting! Just neat bits of food facts to tuck away in your brain. Good job, Faith & keep up the good work Kitchn!

I tried to make some of these from a recipe in Martha Stewart's Blueprint magazine a few years ago. I was having a hard time crushing the candies with a rolling pin, so I figured I would try it in my food processor ...do NOT do this!! Stupidly, I broke my food processor doing this, and the candies I did crush were powdery (thanks for the tip!), so they obviously didn't work and just melted in pools around the cookies.

These cookies are so pretty though I have to try again this year -- but I'll definitely stick to the rolling pin. :)

I'm from the south and persimmon pudding is the best thing to make with these!! I really wouldn't describe it as a "pudding" though, but more a pie without the crust. It has sort of a pumpkin pie taste and texture, and it's very sweet. If the persimmons are extra ripe, you might want to cut back on the amount of sugar you add.

Here's a good recipe for it:

If you have alot of persimmons, the pulp also freezes beautifully! Hope this helps!
