I have the same, exact cabinets but with black granite. I actually see them fairly often so I am pretty sure they are just off the shelf Home Depot.... I would love to do something with mine too but hesitate because - they are in good condition and don't want to muck them up...

I have had the eureka mighty mite for about 7 years now and I love it... lightweight, lots of power, small so it stores easily.

I think I paid somewhere around 50-60 bucks for it and it is going strong 7 years later.

I don't know about where you live but where I live there is definitely a premium placed on unpainted wood trim.

After, spending hours and hours scraping about 20 layers of paint off old trim I kind of curse people who paint nice wood trim.

With that being said, if it isn't nice wood trim or if it isn't a selling point in your area then I say do what makes you happy.

Yay for Petworth! My husband and I bought a 1920s rowhouse about a year ago. We love the neighborhood and our house!

@gretchenalexis - I agree. I live in DC in one of those neighborhoods that the author would probably consider the need to carry mace. However, that couldn't be farther from the truth. I couldn't afford nor would I even want to live in Dupont Circle it is a matter of preference - not safety. I love my row house and my neighborhood.

@Stephanie W - It is the Macy's Corona in Pear.

My family owns a circa 1847 building in KS. One day, my sister was doing some work on one of the walls and she found scribbled in ink a note that my dad had wrote along the lines of "First name, last name was here and the date the building was built."

My dad passed away in 1996 and we didn't find the note until just last year. It definitely brought a smile to my face.

Yeah, I would like to echo the 3,000 square foot question. I live in an almost identical rowhouse close to 16th Street Heights and mine is nowhere near 3,000 sq feet. It is about 1700 sq feet for the upstairs and downstairs. I suppose if you included a finished basement and maybe the attic it could get close to 3,000 but even that is a stretch. And my house is wider than a lot of rowhouses.

With that being said, I like the deep colors - especially in the sunroom. And that is an interesting switch of the living/dining rooms.

Absolutely, love it! I am so jealous. My family owns a circa 1847 building in a small town in KS. It has always been my dream to renovate it and live there. However, there is so much work and I am not sure we could ever recoup any of our investment but it would be fantastic!

Thank you for sharing and giving me a bit of hope that it is possible.

I like your chandelier and your garden potting table. As someone who just purchased their first house, I know how difficult it is to decorate on a budget! Even buying stuff at thrift stores adds up when you are trying to furnish a whole house.

Plus, Joanne, your outfit is really cute.

I really like this..... Our modem and wireless router are in the dining room so I have been looking for a cabinet that can both be used as a sideboard and hold the hardware. I found one at IKEA but I really, really didn't want to go IKEA. I also have found some really lovely antiques on CL but I don't have the heart to cut a whole in one to put the cords through. This would be the perfect solution! I don't have to destroy an antique or go generic with IKEA... woo hoo.

Hey Jen of the North- That was my dad's ship, too! I have toured it a couple of times. He did a tour of Vietnam on that ship.

Funny, I had just stepped off the ladder to take a break from painting the ceiling in my dining room. My house has beams that (i forget what you call it but there was just a post about it) run across the ceiling. The beams are painted white but the ceiling is Ralph Lauren - Reflecting Pool. A very, dark blue green. I really like it but man it is a pain to paint because there is so much trim.

We have a paint sprayer and we when we painted the living room ceiling (white) it only took about 20 minutes. However, the taping off took forever.

We just moved into a new house. Our bedroom has a small bedroom that connects to it via door. We keep calling it our walk in closet and plan to get clothing racks to put in there. However, I just haven't pulled the trigger for many of the reasons above. Even though it technically isn't in our bedroom so I don't have to look at it the thought of how messy it will look is really bugging me.

I had envisioned it as more of a glamorous dressing room but i have a feeling it is just going to look like a messy room.

Can I add a #8, which goes along with #4. I do not care how much you paid for the item and it has nothing to do with how much the item is worth today. I have been scouting out couches for the last few weeks and I refuse to pay $500 for a couch that is 4 or 5 years old. It really doesn't matter to me that you paid $2500 for it.

And when you price your 5 year old couch for $500 and then say, "No bargaining" it is just beyond ridiculous.
