I agree about the shooting in raw being overkill...I'm a photographer myself so of course I shoot raw for stuff that will require a lot of post production, but for the average person taking snapshots why would you want to go through all the extra trouble of dealing with raw files? I never shoot raw when I'm just taking pics of vacations, friends, family etc. If you're getting an SLR with a nice lens you should def. get a uv filter. I have dropped a 2000$ lens before and at first thought it was shattered, but then realized the 80$ uv filter saved it.

I made this tonight, with a few subs. I used sour cream in place of yogurt since I didn't want to buy a huge tub of plain yogurt and that was all my kroger had. I also had slightly less than 5 cups of cooked chickpeas (I made mine from dried) so I just tossed some extra brown rice in. I also used 1 large onion that I caramelized in place of the scallion, some crushed croutons in place of breadcrumbs, and italian blend cheese. Ok maybe more than a few substitutions, but it was delicious nonetheless. Not dry. Oh and I cooked it in a casserole with the lid on the whole time except the last 5 mins.

I have put photos on wood using those cheap-o iron on transfers. This was a few years ago, so I don't know if they've have changed the formula, but you can do all kinds of cool stuff with those. I transferred some on textured watercolor paper, some on wood, you can even collage underneath and iron the transfer over top.

I drink a diet coke almost every day and it does not make me crave sugary/bad stuff later. It's weird, I don't have much of a taste for sweet at all, just diet coke. I love it. I don't like regular coke at all. I know it's bad, but I have pretty much eliminated everything else bad and unhealthy from my life/diet (well, besides wine/beer, but that doesn't count) and I am not giving up my diet cokes. Only a can or fountain though, bottles aren't good.

Thankfully, in Richmond, these 2 things are pretty much always a given.

Sangria! best party beverage ever. I am by no means an expert, but I have a few words of wisdom for sangria makers, based on my experiences.
1) put brandy and triple sec in it. yes both
2) buy cheap as shit wine. box is good, as is carlo rossi. I have found that box wine is apparently sweet as shit, so you should just leave any sugar/simple syrup out of the recipe.
3)put a whole bunch of fruit in it
4)in the winter, make it with canned fruit (juice+fruit in 1! winning!)
5)if it's real sweet and syrupy ( happens to me sometimes) pretend thats intentional and grab a bottle(s) of cheap (extra dry or brut) champy and mix it.

I have one of those washer/dryer combo things, and it takes so long to dry stuff i usually just hang it anyways. I have a cheapo drying rack from ikea that folds flat, and it will hold a whole load of laundry. My process for getting clothes to dry faster? I put the drying rack in my small bathroom, put my little space heater in there on high, and turn the fan in the bathroom on. The fan pulls moisture out and the whole room heats up pretty fast, clothes dry in an hour or so. And no, the space heater does not make any noticeable change in my electric bill.

I do have issues with dog hair though, nothing works as well as a traditional dryer for getting dog hair off clothes.

You know what the worst is? Going into someone's house, and at first glance it looks nice. Well put together, some character...but something just feels off. Upon closer inspection you realize their entire house is furnished with "new" antiques.

I also get fiestaware. My mom loves buying it for me for christmas and birthdays cause its what she ate off of as a child. I've got way more than I need cause it's always on sale (and you know moms can't resist a sale at macys) but it just looks so bright all stacked up on open shelves in the kitchen!

Savannah, Ga-
750 2bedroom, I would guess around 750-800 square feet. Tiny bedrooms, big kitchen and living, charm charm charm. On Jones st. in a great neighborhood. Best deal ever.

1100 3 bedroom, maybe 1500 square feet, yard, porch, homeless "friends," kfc next door.

Philadelphia, Pa
1200 2 bedroom in northern liberties. Great neighborhood, but still close to not so great neighborhoods. Pretty big with huge bedrooms, but carpet. (ugh) no porch or yard, but awesome landlord.

Richmond, Va
870 for a beautiful 2 bedroom with a small back porch. Big. In the fan district, close to everything. Worst landlords ever. lawsuit upon move out.

720 for my current 1 bed that is the nicest, most functional place I've lived in. It's small (550 sq. ft) but has a front porch and back patio. New granite & S/S kitchen, lots of light, cheap utils. The neighborhood is decent, and convenient. My parents would consider it ghetto, but they can't get past the 90's image of richmond, which is when they moved outside the city. Only downside is loud students and parties.

I had this, however, I don't think I ever had the patience to shave enough ice. Mom would usually step in and shave ice for us in the food processor.

I have an LG that came with my apartment, I guess its from 2006 cause thats when my apartment was renovated. It doesn't every dry clothes completely. I just hang my stuff on a small drying rack, then when they are dry but them in the dryer for 10 or so minutes to fluff them. It is excellent for removing wrinkles though. I'm bad about trying different things on then leaving them on the floor, so they are clean but wrinkled. I just throw them in the machine on the dryer setting and it tosses most of the wrinkles out. Also, it has kind of a funky smell. I've been looking this up and apparently its common.

Last time I moved I put my pile of boxes outside in the alley. I put an ad on craiglist saying they were there, and that I will not hold them for anyone or answer any emails. Within a couple hours i had like 10 emails ranging from people asking if i would hold them to people asking if i had any boxes of a specific size. No one picked them up so I recycled them a couple days later. Frustrating.

When I moved into my current apartment, I needed barstools for my little bar area between the kitchen and living room. I looked everywhere, and had a hard time finding an attractive option that wasn't going to break the bank. After almost ordering some from target that were over 70 dollars each, I stopped in realized: when I move out, the chances of me needing barstools again are slim. I went to Ikea and got the 12.99 Oddvar barstools. Plain, square, unfinished wood. They tuck completely under the bar, unlike ones with backs would, so they don't take up much visual space in my small living room/kitchen. Even with my shoddy assembly skills they have held up great so far.

More beer than you think you will need...nothing worse than running out early in the evening and every store is closed/every person is a little over the driving limit. While drinking that beer in the evening, I like to do a little planning ahead to the next morning and think about whats for breakfast. Pre-chop potatoes, put all your ingredients in one cooler, and then in the morning it will be much less of a task to prepare a delicious hangover soothing meal.

oh, and paper towels or rags. I feel like I'm always scrambling around trying to find something to wipe up something with.
