If you order your green product from Fresh Direct are you being green at all, really? Fresh Direct is such a huge waste of resources - having the trucks driving around keeping a fridge running the whole time, idling for long periods of time making deliveries, all that extra packaging. My grandmother used to serve this to my sister and me when we were little - everything would be laid out on a silver platter, and she had giant blackberries as well. It always seemed like the most extravagant treat to me, served like that. So delicious. I sort of forgot that I could easily just do this myself as an adult and relive the whole thing... Oh, and consider a piece of furniture or two that is NOT made out of wood, or that is painted a color. I feel like having that contrast allows you to mix a few wood tones together without having to worry about it looking wrong. It makes each wood finish turn into just another color, instead of clashing wood. Apartment Therapy Boston | Good Question: Furniture for Big, Empty Bedroom? |

I think you could make a little seating area that is floated out in the middle of the room infront of the closets. Make that part of the room feel a bit more like a dressing room lounging area. You could bring the barcelona chair over as a part of that, thus making the scale more appropriate. Right now, pushed back into the corner it looks too much like it's supposed to be a presence. I like to think of large rooms like this as you might imagine a very large formal living room - where there are small clusters of furniture forming different areas for seating of different kinds. My grandmother used to have this amazzzzing house, and she had among others, one huge bathroom that was mostly white, with a big red clawfoot tub smack in the middle. My sister and I called it the birthday tub and as a special treat would take a long bubble bath in it on our birthdays when we were growing up. It seemed like the ultimate luxury. I would love to be able to do that on a regular basis. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Hot or Not? Tub or Shower in the Middle of a Room? |

My mom used to make this amazing dessert we called Prune Whip. It was prunes pureed with some other ingredients, basically baked up like a souffle. When it had become golden brown on the top, we would scoop it out warm in a bowl, and pour a bit of cold cream around it. Heaven. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Recipe: Prunes Stewed in Port Wine |

I do the same, sauteeing it with a bit of olive oil to start, then putting the lid on with a bit of water and rice vinegar. Later I season it with some chili flakes, salt and pepper. I like to let some of it get a little dark and wilty, but to keep most of it bright green with a bit more body left. I tear it off of the big middle stems so there's not much toughness to deal with anyway. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Eat Your Vegetables: Simple Boiled Kale |

My favorite dish is pad thai - perfect comfort food in my mind. My thing, though, with that is that it always seems like it should be the same but always tastes so different from one place to the next. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Thursday Giveaway: Ten by Sheila Lukins |

Use a gentle touch - you can use a dry brush with the tinyest amount of vaseline on the tips (put some on your wrist and then wipe the tips in it gently) to pick up the leaf, and then don't breath too hard as it is very featherlight stuff and will move around a lot in the air. Lay the leaf down from the top, with your hands and the brush above the work you're doing, so the leaf can hang naturally and without creases before you lay it onto your project. But don't be scared of the leaf. It is possible to fill in any holes that may form after you've done most of the surface with smaller pieces of leaf. I don't know, I love living small and have lived much smaller than this, but I don't understand, aside from the functionality of it all, what makes this place so great. It looks quite blah to me. Apartment Therapy New York | Tudor City Studio The New York Times 8.31.08 |

I think they're adorable! They're not supposed to look like it's "just" a hat. They're just a different look - just like the post says you've got the "cool bike, the designey basket, the wooden bell", this is a part of that package. It's not for racing around Prospect Park for a workout. And if it's just a piece of cloth meant to slip over a smooth helmet, I'm sure it would easily slide off if, god forbid, you ended up in an accident. I want one! Apartment Therapy Chicago | At Last! I was looking for one for getting up into my loft at my old apartment. I went to a neighborhood hardware store and told them I was looking for a ladder. They had all the usual gross new and metal ones around that looked too utilitarian. But then one of the employees went up to their storage area, found a dusty old wooden extension ladder, and they cut it down for me right there with a saw. It was such an unexpected way to find it. My grandmother, who has excellent style - a real mix with a lot of very lush, fancy antique pieces - had a storage tower made of lucite with a number of shelves and a door, which she used to store her sweaters and scarves. They were all folded up nicely and stacked in a pleasing color order, both practical because you could see them all and attractive from the outside.
