Toast and peanut butter or yogurt with bran buds are my weekday breakfasts. I have three children I am rushing around in the morning. I like the ease of it. Weekends are made for leisurely breakfasts like frittatas, egg bakes, waffles, and cinnamon rolls.

I think it is fun to tease about a secret ingredient. My children have declared my scrambled eggs the best. Better than anyone else's in the family or any restaurant where they have eaten. I said it was my secret ingredient, only because I didn't want to tell them I put a dash of onion powder in them, since they *hate* onions. Now my oldest daughter can read and she has discovered the secret and doesn't seem to mind is she says they taste so good.

Sharing food is sharing part of your culture. I don't want to keep any of it secret. Food to me is love and I want to give someone all my love not just part of it. If you like what I have made, ask me for the recipe I will gladly give it to you and keep no secrets.

These are great tips. I would also say that you should start implementing these tips as soon as you can. As soon as my children were walking they were helping. Cleaning up after themselves has become a way of life instead of a chore. There are days where they are less eager to put away things but generally speaking they have been doing it for as long as they can remember so it isn't that big of a deal.

Three kiddos and no changing table, pad, mat. I mostly just changed the kiddos on the floor with just a towel or blanket under them. We just didn't have the money or space to get one with baby #1 and by the time baby #3 was born I didn't think it was necessary; I had become a diaper changing pro by that time.

Beet Greens are delicious but I am really obsessed with Rainbow Chard at the moment. This salad sounds delicious.

I bought these for my husband back in April. He LOVES it. He has set it up and programmed it to change one blub blue if there is a threat of bad weather, 2 lights turn blue if rain is predicted in the next few hours, all three turn blue when it is raining and the saturation changes depending on how hard it is raining. Our young daughters know which light means what and will say "looks like we will get rain soon". This is just one of the fun things he does with the bulbs.

I just did this this morning. I'm glad I am not the only one that enjoys this.

We have chronically late friends (30+ minutes). I never understand. Especially since I have three children that I can get ready, drive 20+ minutes across town, and arrive on time for their dinner party.

We love sushi bowls at our house. My daughters (ages 6 & 5) call them mermaid snacks. They love to eat them plain like chips.

I am glad I asked this question! You are providing insight I didn't think about. Like the awkwardness for guests wearing skirts/dresses to get up. Thank you!

We usually have games at our dinner party. We have a very large whiteboard so we start out with G rated Pictionary with the kiddos. After the wee ones are in bed we have been playing Cards Against Humanity. We also enjoy Trivial Pursuit and if it is a smaller bunch Bananagrams is lots of fun.

@ggoodno We have an old card catalogue that we use to store our liquor bottles and wine bottles in. It is as though the drawers were built to hold a bottle perfectly. It is a great piece of furniture and everyone laughs when we show them that is where we store our alcohol.

I would have thought you took a picture of my kitchen drawer. We have all those same cups and bowls!

When my daughter started walking at 10 months she wanted to be very involved in the kitchen. My answer was a drawer full of her stuff at her level. She would load and unload her items from the dishwasher, she was able to set the table (bring to the table) with her plates, and play with them while I was prepping or cooking.

That was six years ago. We still have a low drawer full of all the plastic children's dinnerware and my 17 month old son is just as excited about it as my daughter's were at that age.

I love the look of it. I have an internal debate about shelves in the kitchen. How often would you have to wipe them down as not to get that grimy kitchen grease on them?

Seeing the mixer up there made me cringe, however. I store my mixer on top of my fridge and it is a heavy awkward piece to lift up or down, with or without a chair.

Beer brewing and cheese making are on my list this year too. I like the idea of savory jams. Sounds like you have a delicious year ahead of you!

Not a real pantry. I have a large cupboard where everything is stored and it is often open at your own risk.

A small range. I dream about the day I have a full size range.

I also have to agree with the greasy grime that gets all over. I love the idea of floating shelves in the kitchen, but hate the idea of all my dishes covered in that greasy grime.

I think dinner parties are still very much alive. We just hosted a gathering of about 20 friends last month and next weekend we will host about 15 friends. Our large dinner parties aren't the traditional sit down style. We usually do a semi potluck. I will prepare the main meal while our friends will chip in with sides, desserts, and/or drinks since they always ask to bring something.

A few weeks ago we hosted friends over for the more traditional sit down dinner party where I prepared everything from the starter to the dessert. This to me didn't seem like a dinner party since it was just one couple. I would consider a dinner party to be more than one couple. It doesn't matter what the gathering is called. We always enjoy great food, wine, and conversation.

My son had a robot themed first birthday. I opted to do a robot fruit pizza since we were camping in the hot hot August heat.

I frequently host dinner parties with 15-20 friends coming over for dinner. I love entertaining, but the all the prep work previous to the entertaining part I am horrible at. That last hour before guests are scheduled to arrive I always swear to myself and my husband that I will *never* do this again. We hosted two gatherings already this month and I was extremely prepared. In the past I would have a list of things that needed to be done but not an actual schedule. A schedule of when things should be done and how long it will take greatly helped me to keep my cool. It made the night so much better. We were planning our next dinner party as guests were walking out the door.
