I am interested in ceiling noise reduction in the opposite direction. My 60's ranch style has a long hallway with wood floors that carries noise into the bedrooms. I don't want to carpet the area. The hallway ceiling is low. I would be interested in doing something thin on the ceiling that wouldn't lower the height, and also wouldn't look like acoustic tiles. I am wondering about tin tiles with a layer of cotton batting underneath? Or maybe there is something that could funnel noise out to the foyer?

There should be an age disclaimer on this. A great idea, but potential disaster for climbing toddlers.
