I have a John Boos island with a stainless steel base, which would be the first thing I drag out of my house (after my husband and child) if it was ever on fire! I have an 9-year-old creamy white le creuset and it definitely has a patina ... even with the use of Bon Ami or Bar Keepers. The new black le creusets seem the way to go ... especially when making moles which do the majority of the staining in mine! I always crave citrus this time of year ... I'm obsessed with satsuma tangerines right now. Citrus zest seems to liven up any dish ... and make it feel cleaner.
